Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home

The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.

Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.

Irene & Leah

Activities Coordinators

Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.

Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.

Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.

Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.

Father's Day

The morning was spent icing cakes with ties and bow ties as well as domino tiles, these went down a treat with everyone. We enjoyed an afternoon with The Classic Belles, they are new to our home and the residents loved them. Angie sang along to all the songs and danced in her chair with Ann by her side singing along too. It is amazing how music opens up a new world to people living with dementia they come alive, know the songs word from word, their faces are bright and so relaxed and happy this makes me know why I love my job so much. We had a lovely light afternoon tea, made by our onsite chefs Debbie and Simon they always gives us a very good spread today we had cake and biscuits and open sandwiches loved by all the tea flowed and we also had a beer for those that wanted one.

National Doughnut Day

On 7th May residents from Rothsay Grange care home  in Andover celebrated National doughnut day. They played doughnut hoopla, tasted different doughnuts even coloured in pictures of them. One resident said that ‘’she did not know we had so many different doughnuts we always had just jam ones’’. The residents had a blind tasting to see if they could tell what doughnut it was, the activities team tried too and it was very hard to tell. We also went out on a trip to see if we could find anymore doughnuts in the coffee shop.

VE Day

We marked the anniversary of Victory in Europe Day in style by throwing a 1940s afternoon tea party to remember. The home was decorated in red, white and blue. Everyone enjoyed an afternoon of live music from Jayne Deer. We all enjoyed freshly-baked biscuits and a cake for the occasion, all washed down with pots of tea.
