Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home

The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.

Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.

Irene & Leah

Activities Coordinators

Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.

Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.

Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.

Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.

Lots of Party Spirit at Rothsay!

Residents, friends and family had a great time at Rothsay's Christmas Party where we were delighted to have the proceedings officially declared open by our very special guest The Worshipful the Mayor, Cllr Philip Lashbrook accompanied by The Mayoress, Linda Lashbrook - thank you both for spending the afternoon with us. There was music throughout courtesy of Craig, which had the dancers and singers in the room joining in, as well as lots of festive fayre on offer and of course plenty of fun and laughter to go round. Thank you to everyone who came and to the teams at the home who prepared everything.

Fun and Festive Christmas Fayre a Huge Success

The weather might have been wet and windy but all was bright and festive at our Christmas Fayre. Thanks to everyone who came along and joined in to make the afternoon such fun. Raffle prizes were gleefully claimed by lucky winners, the weight of the cake was guessed and our elf on the shelf found a name (Twinkle) and with it a forever home! There were chocolate goodies, Christmas greenery and lots of craft items which were snapped up and with a festive tea and songs from Jayne it made for a truly Christmassy afternoon which, as part of our 'Countdown to Christmas', brings us closer to the big day itself. Thank you to everyone who supported the event.

Animals are Always Popular Visitors At Rothsay Grange

We love our animals here at Rothsay Grange and they always draw a big crowd and this month was no exception.  We started off with a visit from Cuddly Cavies and their team of adorable guinea pigs who did the rounds.  In their little nests they were perfectly lap shaped and very light so anyone who wanted to was able to get up close and personal and give them a little treat of greenery.  Another regular is Rag the PAT dog who is a firm favourite.  With his friendly character and wagging tail he brings a smile to everyone’s face and we look forward to his regular visits along with his human.

Mark Way School Pupils Serve up Tea-time Treats!

A huge thank you to the pupils and accompanying teachers from The Mark Way School who visited us yesterday afternoon and brought with them a whole array of tea-time treats and goodies courtesy of their local Asda. Before setting out to deliver their goodies and meet the residents they laid out everything and made the tea ready to do the rounds. Residents loved meeting the pupils and having a chat and they in turn said that they had a really nice time visiting and had lots to talk about and take back with them to the classroom. It was a lovely busy afternoon and who doesn't enjoy something special for tea accompanied by a chat - perfect!

Marking Remembrance Weekend with Song

Rothsay played host to an afternoon of song from D-Day Dolly who treated us to a selection of all the familiar war-time favourites that are so evocative and loved. Dolly got everyone singing along including family members and friends and the afternoon was completed with a lovely tea. Seeing Dolly in her uniform prompted lots of chat and reminiscence and it was the perfect way to start the Remembrance weekend. Thank you to everyone who came along and helped to make the afternoon go with a swing.

Live Entertainment at Rothsay Grange

We like to have a good mixture of musical singers into entertain our residents this month we had Kathy’s choir in to perform for us.

The residents said how nice it was to hear our piano being played and how well Kathy’s choir performed.

Rita said they were very good.

We will have them back in on 15th December at 2:30pm if you would like to join us.
