Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home

The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.

Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.

Irene & Leah

Activities Coordinators

Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.

Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.

Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.

Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.

Visiting the Army Flying Museum

In aid of museum day we went to the Army Flying Museum, John was telling all of us about how is Dad was in the Air Force and flown his airplane to close to some house and all the window broke. While we was having lunch we was watching the helicopters taking off and landing.

National Tea Day

As it was National tea day we had a selection of teas to try and you just have to have a biscuit to dunk! We also saw Debbie join us. She was amazing with all her new songs, she kept the residents singing along and dancing.

A Visit from Steve and Sophie

At Rothsay Grange we always like to add to our acts, this month we had Steve a new singer who also brought his therapy dog Sophie with him. She was very good and waited for him to stop singing and then it was her time to shine the residents had an amazing time that afternoon.

Our Little Helper

Rothsay Grange had a little helper to call bingo, Ronnie is Pauls grandson who has come in to see his grandad since a baby.

Ronnie always like to help out and today he was calling the bingo, making sure everyone crossed off the right numbers and helped with refreshments.

He has grown up so fast, he told us about his school and that he is 5 years old.

Happy Easter

The run up to Easter Day was very busy for staff and residents.

Easter art and crafts: Making cards for loved ones, decorations for our rooms and lots of other things, Easter baking: Making our Easter cake for the Easter completion, Nest, cookies and other sweet treats.

We were kept very busy! A restful Sunday we all looked forward to but NO, it was the Easter bunny turning up to hand out eggs to us all!

Then the afternoon we thought we could put our feet up but that too was full of Easter themed fun and games we even won prizes! We all had a great time.

Therapy dog 'Rag' comes to say hello!

Rag is coming up to Two years old now and we have had the pleasure of seeing him grow from a ball of fluff up to today.

The residents love seeing him and he knows that they will have little treats for him. Rag knows he can only sit on the bed with the red blanket down, he is so very clever.

Rita said she was happy for him to stay with her as he looked so comfy with her.

It is amazing what animals do for us all, Rag had a nice walk home via the pub so dad could have a little down time on his day off.

Rag joins us once a month so if you would like to see him next time please do give us a call, come and have a cup of tea and some cake and a cuddle with little Rag.
