Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home

The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.

Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.

Irene & Leah

Activities Coordinators

Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.

Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.

Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.

Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.

Life at Rothsay Grange Care Home

,

VE Day

We marked the anniversary of Victory in Europe Day in style by throwing a 1940s afternoon tea party to remember. The home was decorated in red, white and blue. Everyone enjoyed an afternoon of live music from Jayne Deer. We all enjoyed freshly-baked biscuits and a cake for the occasion, all washed down with pots of tea.

International Firefighters Day

We honored our local firefighters by inviting them in to enjoy delicious home-baked goodies and to thanks the firefighters stationed there for their selfless service keeping the community safe. The residents really enjoyed speaking to the firefighters, learning fun facts and looking inside the fire truck.

Rothsay Grange share the love

We had a lovely time celebrating this special day with cream teas, prosecco and a homemade heart shaped cake. We had Tony Allgood filling the room with love by singing different love songs. All the residents were hand delivered red roses while Tong sang ‘Your Song by Elton John’.  Love was shared in the community with a cream tea delivered to Salon 73, Foxcotte Veterinary and Chantry lodge retirement home too.

Sporting Memories Foundation

Here at Rothsay Grange our team have recently joined a meeting with Sporting Memories Foundation to under more about how the scheme can benefit our residents.

Sporting Memories Foundation for 10 years have been using the power of remembering and talking about sport – along with physical exercise – to tackle dementia, depression and loneliness. They are dedicated to bringing together older adults.

Sporting Memories offer group or 1-2-1 based activities for our residents to enjoy either with other residents or by involving family and friends.

There are over 120 Sporting Memories Clubs across Scotland, Wales and England. The supportive, welcoming and structured sessions they offer are proven to help build cognitive resilience for those living with dementia. Mental and physical well-being increases too.

We look forward to working in partnership with Sporting Memories Foundation.

New Years Eve Party

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Rothsay Grange care home, in Andover, celebrated bringing in the New Year in style when Big Ben struck midnight this New Year’s Eve.

Rothsay Grange’s New Year’s Eve party was in full swing with dancing, live music from Dave Dawson and a Quiz. Residents enjoyed prosecco and cocktails and a festive feast prepared by head chef, Debbie

Father Christmas

Residents at Rothsay Grange have recently been treated to a visit from Father Christmas, this Christmas Eve. Santa stopped off at Rothsay Grange and individually delivered Christmas presents to all of our residents.

Resident Joan said "Oh it did make us smile, it was completely unexpected and the gift was a lovely touch."
