Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home

The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.

Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.

Irene & Leah

Activities Coordinators

Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.

Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.

Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.

Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.

Bold Balladiers Come to Rothsay

Bold Balladiers Come to Rothsay

We had a lovely afternoon of entertainment from the Bold Balladiers, with opera and classical music. The residents enjoyed singing along to the classic songs.

Care Home Open Day

Care Home Open Day

Care Home Open Day on Friday 17th June was a great success here at Rothsay Grange, we all had a terrific afternoon with local singer Marie Ponting singing a huge selection of songs which got the residents, relatives and staff dancing, we all enjoyed a homemade Cream Tea made by our onsite chefs. Mayor of Test Valley Karen Hamilton visited our home to meet and greet residents and visitors and even stopping for a little boogie.

After all this excitement we had a raffle drawn which helped the home raise money for Foundation Week for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation.  The total the home raised was £130.00.

Dementia Awareness Week at Bradshaw Manor

Dementia Awareness Week at Bradshaw Manor

We did a lot during Dementia Awareness Week: Irene and Chips tried their luck on old pier games; they had to change modern cash to old pennies in order to use it, however. Maureen was eager to trial out the fire engine. Another resident said that his father used to drive one of the engines. Chips recognised some classic cars as soon as he saw them, so we took the opporunity to take a picture for him.

Fun exercise!

Fun exercise!

Residents enjoyed some gentle fun exercise one afternoon playing ball games.  Residents had lots of giggles while throwing the big ball to one another.

Dementia Awareness Week

Dementia Awareness Week

We marked Dementia awareness week with having a trip out to Milestones Museum in Basingstoke. Residents that came along had a lovely afternoon of reminiscing of years gone by and enjoyed seeing all the old vehicles, shops, streets and memorabilia. Our residents were so pleased that the museum managed to save and restore so many things. We ended the afternoon with  a nice cup of tea and a slice of cake in the museums café before returning home.

Cosmic Sparkle!
