Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home
The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.
Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.

Irene & Leah
Activities Coordinators
Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.
Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.
Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.
Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.
Celebrating life at Rothsay Grange Care Home
Gents club
Our men’s club enjoyed a fantastic outing this week as two good friends headed to a much-loved local pub. One resident was especially excited to return, having spent many years visiting this pub as his regular spot. The pair enjoyed a well-earned pint, plenty of conversation, and the chance to reconnect with a place full of memories.
Our activities team take great pride in supporting residents to revisit hobbies and experiences they’ve always loved. Being able to help them get out and enjoy meaningful moments together is something we value deeply.

Nutrition and Hydration week
Residents had a great time celebrating Nutrition and Hydration Week (16th – 22nd March) with lots of yummy, wholesome food, thirst quenching beverages and some interesting activities along the way. Nutrition and Hydration Week aims to highlight, promote and celebrate improvements in the provision of nutrition and hydration locally, nationally and globally.
Staff at Rothsay Grange organised for the residents to delve into a week of educational activities which empowered daily living skills and promoted healthy choices. Everything was on the menu from smoothie making and baking to fruit salad preparation, there was something to every taste.

Getting ready for Spring
Spring is on the way at Rothsay Grange and the residents are getting the garden ready by building and painting their own bird houses.
The creativity, colour and teamwork have brought such joy to the home and we can't wait to see the birds settle once they're hung around the garden.

A very special visit to Rothsay Grange
Residents at Rothsay Grange had the most wonderful surprise when a few friendlt llamas came to spend time with them. Theyr gentle nature adn curious personalities brought so much laughter.
Residents enjoyed stroking theyr soft coats, learning fun facts about them and of course posing for photos.
Moments like this remind us how powerful animal assisted activites can be in lifting spirits and creating shared joy across the home.

Christmas Carols
The residents had a lovely time listening and singing along to Christmas songs and the beautifully played instruments from Kathy's choir. Even more so enjoyed with friends.
Wine tasting in the garden
The team took the opportunity whilst the sun was shining in the gardens to hold a much-anticipated wine tasting afternoon.
The residents enjoyed a selection of wine, soft drinks and cheese and biscuits, whilst getting the opportunity to socialise and soak up the rays. Food and drink has a way of connecting with people in such a lovely way, and this highlighted that.

Spring arrives at Rothsay Grange
Residents took the opportunity to take a leisurely stroll through the gardens to spot the first signs of spring. There was an array of fresh life springing into action with daffodils popping up all around.
With our new gardener busy in the grounds, we are very much looking forward to spotting all the new pretty flowers and greenery coming to life over the next few months.

The power of Music & Dementia
We were delighted to welcome Ryan Bishop, whose incredible singuing brought so much joy to our residents. His warm voice, familiar songs and wonderful engagement created moments of connection, smiles and sing alongs.
Music has such a powerful impact for people living with dementia sparking memories, liftings moods and Ryan truly captured that magic.

Pantomine - Beauty & the Beast
Visiting the Army Flying Museum
Rothsay Grange is delighted to share a heart-warming moment created by our activities team for one of our married couples who recently moved to us, Arthur and Maureen Lewis. During recent conversations, the team learnt that the couple had long hoped to visit the Army Flying Museum in Middle Wallop—a trip they believed might no longer be possible. With thoughtful planning and support, the team made that wish a reality.
Arthur, who proudly served in both the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force, was especially moved during the visit. While exploring the museum’s exhibits, he recognised a uniform in one of the photographs and shared stories about the belts worn and how they signified rank. The couple enjoyed a light lunch in the café before continuing to soak up everything the museum had to offer. After a full and meaningful day, Arthur and Maureen returned to Rothsay Grange for supper and a well-earned rest.
“We were so glad to help them make such lovely memories together,” said Leah from the activities team. “It was heart-warming to see our new residents enjoy an experience they thought they wouldn’t be able to do any more. With the right support, it’s absolutely possible to continue enjoying fun and fulfilling days out.” Rothsay Grange remains committed to creating opportunities that enrich the lives of our residents and help them continue doing what they love.

Rothsay Grange hosts local community group International Women’s Day
Rothsay Grange invited the ‘Ladies Who Latte’ to come and celebrate International Women’s Day alongside their regular monthly meet-up. The speakers included a talk on personal safety and women's self-defence.
The theme of this International Women’s Day was ‘Give to Gain’, which encourages a mindset of generosity and collaboration within the community. The ladies who attended enjoyed fresh bakes from our kitchen and a small token gift to resemble the theme this year.
