Activities at Rose Lodge Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

My role is to engage and stimulate our residents by offering a range of activities for them to enjoy. I want to get everyone involved and make our home community and atmosphere as positive and welcoming as possible.

Making sure that our residents have things to do that they really enjoy doing is something that I am passionate about, It is so important to make sure that they are happy and enjoy all of the activities and events that we do with them. We enjoy creating new and special memories together.

Life at Rose Lodge Care Home

Grand National

Activities Lead Jane and Volunteer Cheryl bought the Grand Nationals to Rose Lodge. Residents got prepared with a fabulous lunch wearing their chosen Ladies Hats before the big race in the afternoon.

Everyone gathered in the lounge and each resident had a booklet to choose their special horse. The lounge was a buzz with excitement as the horses sprinted towards the finish line on the TV. During the nail biting events everyone enjoyed scrumptious refreshments and chocolates while reminiscing.

Resident Vera shared with us all that she always used to place a bet on the Grand Nationals and loved reliving this experience with everyone.

Head Housekeeper celebrates 10-years Long Service

Head of Housekeeping at our home has received a prestigious Long Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for 10 years.  Jackie Watson, now Head of Housekeeping, started at Barchester in April 2014 and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.

Megan Jones, General Manager said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating 10 years of loyal service with Jackie. She has demonstrated her dedication and loyalty to this home and its residents year after year. I speak for all of us here at Rose Lodge when I say that I’m looking forward to many more years of working with Jackie!”

Come sing!

Residents across our homes and hospitals had a fantastic time with vocal coach Dan Cooper from Biiah as he led an amazing sing-a-long session for residents to enjoy.

Residents who joined the event were able to learn different techniques as they sang the famous ‘I Can See Clearly Now’ by Jimmy Cliff and ‘Here Comes the Sun’ by The Beatles.

Across our homes there were smiles and laugher all around. The session was such a success and was great for the mind, body and soul.

Easter Decorating Competition

The lovely team at AJ Coggles Family Funeral Directors dropped off a selection of Easter eggs and invited residents to enter their Easter Egg design competition!

Residents have been very busy creating their own designs in our craft club. During the creative process we were reminiscing about Easter, being young and getting excited about the Easter Bunny.

Visit to Worzals Cafe

Residents had a lovely trip to Worzals cafe on our minibus this week. Residents enjoyed looking through the menu and the choices of what they would like to eat and drink. We all sat down to try some delicious cakes and toasted tea cakes along with the residents choice of hot drinks.

We were all chatting away to each other and discussing our upcoming life enrichment activities with the Activities Team, Jane and Sarah. The residents were thrilled and kept commenting what a lovely time they all had and thanked the whole team. It was just a wonderful outing in the minibus and we can't wait for many more.

Petting Zoo

Rose Lodge care home, in Wisbech, was full of animal mischief on Thursday the 4th of April when the mobile zoo came to visit the home.

Residents at Rose Lodge were pleasantly surprised to see animals such as chickens, guinea pigs and lizards roaming around their lounge as ‘Michelle’s Animal Therapy and Petting Zoo’ paid a visit.

General Manager Megan Jones said: “Our residents have really enjoyed their unusual visitors today.  We knew that having the mobile zoo here would be a bit of fun for all our residents, especially as some find it difficult to go on many outings in our minibus.  We are always looking for new activities for the residents and today we have seen the seen the enjoyment and the therapeutic influence animals can have on people.”

Resident Richard was very excited by the animals visit, he said: “The bearded dragon was very interesting and I also enjoyed holding the rabbit!”
