Activities at Rose Lodge Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Jane Ritchie

Head of Activities

Hello, my name is Jane and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Rose Lodge and I have been here since 2010 .

My role is to engage and stimulate our residents by offering a range of activities for them to enjoy. I want to get everyone involved and make our home community and atmosphere as positive and welcoming as possible.

Making sure that our residents have things to do that they really enjoy doing is something that I am passionate about, It is so important to make sure that they are happy and enjoy all of the activities and events that we do with them. We enjoy creating new and special memories together.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Rose Lodge Care Home

Harrogate Chocolate Factory

We had a brilliant time across our services with Harrogate Skills 4 Living as they took us on a wonderful virtual visit to their Harrogate Chocolate Factory.

Residents were thrilled to discover details about the chocolate-making process and the fascinating journey from bean to bar, all while enjoying some delicious sweet treats.

The Factory aims to employ people with learning disabilities and autism, involving them in all parts of the process, from sorting and roasting the beans to packaging and sales. The experience was truly enjoyed by all who joined this event.

Beat The Clock

We continue to celebrate a varied life enrichment programme and across our services we linked up with other Barchester care homes and hospitals up and down the country for some interactive Beat the Clock games.

Our residents truly enjoyed solving word puzzles, conundrums and mathematical problems as part of Barchester’s very own game show series.

Everyone who joined had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.

'Wish' Postbox

Residents completed a special project with Debbie from Gratitude 43! We thoroughly enjoyed designing our 'Make a Wish Postbox' with beautiful decoupage. The various themes placed on our postbox are all subjects that are personal to the residents at Rose Lodge, from football to flowers .

With the completion of this postbox, residents are encouraged to write their wish or ambition on a piece of paper and pop it inside the box, ready for our staff to help complete them! We are so excited to help residents live life to the fullest!

Easter Cake Competition

Here at Rose Lodge residents took part in a themed baking club this week, helping us get ready for Easter! We spent the time planning and creating our delicious Easter Cake for the Barchester Easter Cake Competition. We think it looks amazing. We made a chocolate tiered cake with chocolate cream and of course eggs on top .

Elizabeth, a resident said, "I've always loved baking. Every week at the baking club we always make something different and I love catching up with the ladies for a chat".

Mothers Day

Residents had a fabulous morning with the in-house entertainment by KJ and the Catt. We all loved singing along to the beautiful songs and of course lots of dancing too. All of the ladies received a bunch of flowers from Rose Lodge for Mothering Sunday.

Several loved ones took us up on our offer to join a special Sunday Roast with their Mothers, made by our amazing hospitality team.

High Sheriff Dr Bharatkumar Khetani Visits!

High Sheriff Dr Bharatkumar Khetani joined residents at the home to view their facilities and enjoy refreshments on Wednesday 13th March just a couple of weeks before he is due to step down as High Sheriff. During the visit many topics were discussed but most were in regards to the work High Sheriff Dr Bharatkumar Khetani has been doing over the past year and the many events he and his wife, Pritty, have attended as well as the work the activities team at Rose Lodge do to enrich the lives of their residents.

High Sheriff Dr Bharatkumar Khetani and his wife were impressed by the work the home team do every day, especially the variety of activities the home have going on like their community knit and natter which takes place every month as well as their more frequent activities like bingo and games night.
