Activities at Rose Lodge Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Jane Ritchie

Head of Activities

Hello, my name is Jane and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Rose Lodge and I have been here since 2010 .

My role is to engage and stimulate our residents by offering a range of activities for them to enjoy. I want to get everyone involved and make our home community and atmosphere as positive and welcoming as possible.

Making sure that our residents have things to do that they really enjoy doing is something that I am passionate about, It is so important to make sure that they are happy and enjoy all of the activities and events that we do with them. We enjoy creating new and special memories together.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Rose Lodge Care Home

Professional Networking Event

In mid-September, the home initiated a new community-based networking group to bolster the town of Wisbech and its vicinity.

We were excited to host visiting professionals to explore collaborative ways to enhance the local community and provide assistance to those in dire need. It was a pleasure to have Hannah from Lyncroft Care Home, Jack from How Are You Fenland, and Shannon and Charlotte from the community team at Yorkshire Building Society join us.

104th Birthday Celebrations

Celebrations have been in full swing at the home as one of our residents reaches her 104th birthday in style.

Nancy was joined by staff, relatives, friends and other residents as she celebrated her 104th birthday today. She had a lovely day filled with cards, cake, flowers, balloons, gifts, family and love! Nancy enjoyed the day (albeit a little tired).

She was born in the London Borough of Sutton in 1920. She then moved to Kings Lynn in Norfolk and served as a land girl during World War Two, before then meeting her husband and settling down to start a family. Nancy has 7 children, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

She later came to Rose Lodge in December 2023 where she is enjoying a new chapter of her life.

Residents enjoy beach themed Summer Fete

Colleagues, residents, relatives and the local community came together to enjoy our Open Day and themed garden party.

We were privileged to welcome back Sidney Imafidon the Mayor of Wisbech and Julie our local Tesco community champion.

There was a variety of stalls and activities taking place and we had wonderful entertainment from the fabulous Karl Richardson.

Everyone gathered together and it was delightful to see different generations having fun together. Visitors enjoyed plenty of refreshments such as tea, coffee, cake and seaside themed scampi and chips which were prepared by our brilliant catering team, who worked hard to make sure a great time was had by all.

One of our residents said “ I have really enjoyed myself and was surrounded by laughter and great people”. A big thank you to everyone who came and supported and everyone who helped make the day extra special.

Cheese and Wine Tasting

We were thrilled to host an afternoon of Cheese and Wine on Memory Lane.

Our guests relished a variety of exquisite cheeses and select wines that catered to their individual tastes, all while the melodies of the Rat Pack played softly in the background.

It was a wonderfully entertaining fun filled afternoon.

National Photography Day

'You must have been a beautiful baby'

As part of 'National Photography Day' we welcomed our residents, relatives and colleagues to take part in a fun activity of 'can you guess the baby' as we asked those taking part to match the baby photo to the member of our team.

We had lots of fun guessing or comparing the staff member to the adorable baby photo and reminiscing about our childhoods, families and by gone fashion trends!

Celebrating Success

Claire, a much cherished member of our care team, was presented with her certificate for passing her level 2 diploma in adult care.

This was awarded to Claire by our Home Manager, Megan Jones.

Claire is a very popular and much loved member of the Rose Lodge care team, by our residents, their families and colleagues alike. It goes without saying we couldn't be more proud of Claire and everything that she has achieved.

Everyone here at the home congratulates Claire on her wonderful achievement.
