Activities at Queens Manor Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Shannon Cullen

Senior Head of Lifestyle

Hi, my name is Shannon and I am Head of Lifestyle and Enrichment here at Queens Manor. I have come to Queens Manor with 6 years of experience in the planning, activities and events sector.

I ensure that myself and the team get to  know each resident's preferences so that we can deliver a person-centred programme of events and activities within the home -  Including activities that positively impact physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. I strongly believe that creating great moments and memories for our residents and embracing their individuality with tailor made activities is the way forward.

In an era of developing technologies, we are using new ways of reaching out to family and friends - though Zoom, Skype and Facebook Portal. We hope that our residents never feel alone or too far away from their loved ones this way.   Each day I like to ensure that our residents enjoy themselves in a calm, stimulating and fun environment, whilst creating bonds with each other and staff.

Life at Queens Manor Care Home

Happy International Tea Day

Today residents at Queens Manor celebrated International Tea Day by having our very own tea tasting and learning about the background of tea! Who knew there was so much history behind the wonderful beverage!

Furry friends...

What a lovely end to Easter weekend we have had today!  Our friends over at bunny & co paid us a visit and brought over some lovely little bunnies, a chicken, a duck, some guinea pigs and mice

Trip to the beach

Queens Manor Residents Adrianne, Marion, and Mary loved their outing last week to a local beach - only a stone throw away from the home.  We took supplies to make hot beverages and our chefs provided us with some sweet treats for the outing !

Queens Manor Bike Rally

Content: Thoughtful staff at Queens Manor arranged for local bike enthusiasts to bring along a selection of magnificent bikes, both old and new, to surprise and delight resident Dick Finnemore, aged 92. Dick has been a motorbike enthusiast all his life, and along with his late wife, he rode regularly every month until he was in his 80s

Birthday celebrations

It was Anna’s 86th birthday yesterday and she spent the morning relaxing and reminiscing about her past birthday gone by and times she has spend with her family & friends.  She was then treated to some presents and cake by the staff at Queens Manor and had some pamper time courtesy of the Lifestyle and Enrichment Team!

Discovering the Astor's

Our residents came together to enjoy an exciting virtual talk courtesy of the team at National Trust Talks Service.  The illustrated talk took us closer to one of Cliveden’s most famous families, the Astors. Our residents were able to discover what motivated William Waldorf Astor, America’s richest man, to purchase Cliveden in 1893 and how the estate became the centre of high society in the 1920 s and 30 s thanks to his son Waldorf and daughter in law Nancy Astor.
