Hi, my name is Donna, and I am General Manager here at Queens Manor. Welcome to our website!

Thank you for taking the time to look further into what Queens Manor has to offer to you or your loved one. Here is an opportunity to look at some of our staff team in the home, who all play a vital role in day-to-day life.

I have been a Registered Nurse since 1999, having completed my Bachelor of Nursing at Dundee University before moving to Australia. Over the past two decades, I have worked in palliative care, surgery and liver transplantation, divisional and corporate management, and as both a care home manager and regional manager for a large UK care provider. In 2018, I was honoured to receive Scottish Care’s Manager/Leader of the Year award.

I love my role and am privileged to be supported by a fantastic team and have the opportunity to work in such a wonderful environment.

I look forward to welcoming you into our beautiful home.

Michael Shaw

Deputy Manager

Hi, my name is Michael and I am Deputy Home Manager, previous Head of Unit for our residential suite here at Queens Manor where I started in January 2019, just before the opening of our home. I love being able to support everyone within our home from resident's, relatives & friends and our staff too. I enjoy the strong level of family bonds and teamwork we have developed at Queens Manor and most importantly, the special friendships with our residents. Outside of work I'm a big fan of the cinema, walking my dog Sam and a good, tasty meal!

Hi, my name is Coral and I am Head of Unit for our residential dementia suite here at Queens Manor.

I Began with Barchester when Queens Manor first opened after I moved up to Edinburgh from Swindon. I started working in care as helping others and making a difference gives me purpose and drive and I continuously strive to improve my skill set every day so that our residents receive the best possible care and so that I can lead my team well. I love getting to know our residents and I love the partnerships I’ve made with my colleagues and the wonderful team here.

Administrator

Hi, my name is Hayley, and I am Administrator here at Queens Manor.

I have experience of working in the care sector since 2006 both clinically and administratively; this has given me a great insight into the needs and desires of people moving into a care community. I started working at Queens Manor in 2018 as the home administrator and work together with the concierges to ensure the smooth running of the home.

I love that I can work in a job I enjoy with a great team and I feel privileged to be part of this flagship home

Head of Housekeeping

Hi, my name is Emma, and I am Head of Housekeeping here at Queens Manor.

I have a background in management and public services, although the past few years I have been focused on being a head housekeeper in care homes.  Although this was a new challenge to me I have been able to put my organisational skills, attention to detail and love for working with people to good use.

I came to Queens Manor for a brand new challenge; to be in a very positive atmosphere where everyone living and working here feels ownership of the home and team that we are building a family being part of a caring community.

Hi, My name is Duncan and I am the Head Chef at Queens Manor and joined the team in October 2019.

Myself and my team cater for residents' individual dietary needs and ensure that our seasonal home cooked menus offer choice, nutrition and quality. All meals are freshly prepared with seasonal produce. I enjoy speaking with our residents to learn about the food they love and to gain feedback to ensure we are always delivering a high standard of food and satisfying all our of our varied palates.

Jezz Simpson

Head of Maintenance

Maintenance is paramount when it comes to our residents, relatives and colleagues, and my role is to keep the home environment up to the highest standards possible, ultimately creating a safe and warm place for our residents to live and my colleagues to work.

I also manage and deal with contractors, keeping records up-to-date for our audits. I take great pride in my work and strive to ensure that our residents have a lovely place to live and our staff have a pleasant environment to work in.

Lifestyle Enrichment Coordinator

I began working with Queens Manor when we first opened, as a concierge on front of house where I struck up warm and trusted bonds with residents and their families. I moved over to the lifestyle team because I love the interaction with people and enjoy arts and crafts, gardening and practicing calming and mindful techniques which all give our residents an even wider array of choices. I find this role so rewarding and love finding out people’s unique personalities so I can help to ensure we continue to provide activities and experiences they love.

Pet Therapy Dog

Hi, my name is Begbie. My Dad is the Maintenance Manager here at Queen’s Manor so I have been visiting since the home opened. I love sneaky sausage snacks and catching frisbees almost as much as I love going to see all of our residents and visitors for cuddles. I am looking forward to receiving my certificate as a Pet Therapy Dog and can’t wait to graduate.
