Activities at Overslade House Care Home
Our activities team is dedicated to organising a variety of events and activities and adapting them to suit the capabilities of those we support. Our goal is to improve quality of life by providing activities that are tailored to residents' own interests.
At Overslade House, we encourage local people and businesses to participate, as well as our staff and relatives, in order to keep them involved as part of a wider community. We strive to enhance the quality of both mental and physical stimulation through weekly minibus excursions, PAT dogs, quizzes, Zumba classes, arm chair line dancing, musical entertainers, pamper sessions and much more.
We definitely have something for everyone!
Julie Bateman
Hi, my name is Julie, and I'm the lead Activities Lead here at Overslade House. I've been an entertainer for over 25 years which has given me a great foundation for meeting people from various backgrounds, and has also helped nurture my social skills.
I love animals, and have two Dachshunds of my own who, like me, love meeting new people. I'm looking forward to bringing them in to meeting all our lovely residents here at Overslade.
I'm a bit of a social butterfly and enjoy visiting National Trust locations, attending the Theatre, singing and dining out. Over the years I've even been an 'extra' on TV!
Living life to the full is my motto, and I wish to instil this in all our residents, whatever your ability there is something new to learn or try. Life is for enriching and enjoyment. I look forward to getting to know you and your loved ones. Life at Overslade House Care Home
Chocolate Eclairs
Another wonderful cookery class today at Overslade House. Our resident ambassador; Anne produced a full tray of choux pastry balls, filled each with fresh cream and topped them in silky chocolate sauce. The group definitely enjoyed polishing off her efforts during afternoon tea!
National Apple Day
National Apple Day on 21st October has been celebrated during this week’s cookery session with the baking of a scrumptious German Apple cake. Our residents got fully involved in preparing, peeling and dicing the apples and mixing the dough. Chef then baked it to perfection! Totally delicious.
Every Poppy Counts
Wear it Pink Day
We had a wonderful time 'Wearing it Pink' for Breast Cancer Now Awareness day 23/10/2020.
Our residents and staff enjoyed baking and decorating cupcakes, dressing the rooms and showing off their favourite pink outfits Breast Cancer Now
Nursery Children's Gift of Kindness
Our resdients were super surprised and thankful to receive a visit from the Crescent School - Pathfinders Nursery. Their wonderful children made up a box of goodies to put a smile on our faces. We can't wait for the time when the children can visit us again, as before and play games with our resdients.
10-year Long Service Award
Congratulations goes to Ewa Woznica on receiving her 10-year 'Long Service Award'. Barchester Healthcare, your colleagues and the residents at Overslade House appreciate all you do. Special thanks comes from all your resident 'friends' on Rupert Brooke Suite for your continued care and kindness.
