"Our mum had to stop for respite in September as she was struggling to live on her own. She had settled in more or less straight away and never left and has become a permanent resident. The staff are very caring and attentive and understanding and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. The difference in our mum has been amazing. She loves it here. She is kept busy with all activities and enjoys the trips out. Highly recommend."

"My mother-in-law has recently entered Overslade House Nursing and Care Home following discharge from the hospital. From the very start, we have been impressed by all of the staff that we have encountered without exception. The staff show love, care and respect to service users and also demonstrate care and respect to relatives. They are very person-centred in their approach, and all members of staff encountered to date seem to be happy in their work. The management team are accessible to address concerns and to listen and is clearly very competent at managing their staff appropriately and keeping a happy working environment. In a previous occupation, I had contact with several care homes in the Rugby area, including one as the relative of a service user. I can safely say that, in my opinion, Overslade House is the best nursing and care home that I have encountered."

"My nan was in Overslade House for end-of-life care. From the moment she arrived, she was treated with love, respite and care. From management to health care assistance, everyone ensured not only my nan but my entire family were cared for. In my nan's last days, we became one large family, and staff and family grieved together. I'll never be able to thank everyone enough."

"I cannot praise all the staff at Overslade highly enough. Mum came into their care for end of life, and everything they did for Mum was to make her happy and enjoy her final weeks. In Mum's last few days, it was very important to her to go into the garden. Mum was bedbound with limited speech and eyesight failing, but the nursing and HCA team made it possible for her; it was a beautiful time spent with Mum and nature. Every member of the team was kind, caring and loving towards Mum, but special recommendation for one lady who took control at the end, and I would not have coped without her."

"My mum's referral to Overslade House for 6 weeks from the hospital has so far been great. The support beforehand for our family was outstanding and so reassuring. She was welcomed by all the staff and made to feel at home. The care so far has been absolutely great. The food is wonderful and the rooms and decor are beautiful."

"My mother came to Overslade House Care Home after suffering a fall at home and with dementia. She was looked after very well in a period of roughly six months in Memory Lane and then in palliative care after hospitalisation with flu and pneumonia. Thanks to all the staff for making her experience and that of her family as pleasant as it could be in the circumstances."

"The staff are very caring towards the patients and respect their decisions, nothing is too much trouble if you have any requests. Management is all very helpful and kind and will help t solve any problems that may arise. The cleanliness of the home is excellent. The entertainment is really good and a good variety. There are always drinks available on the dining tables which are set with fresh flowers and table cloths which makes it more homely. Very pleased with the home. Parking can be a problem at times."

"My mother-in-law was initially sent to Overslade after being discharged from the hospital. It was our first experience in a care home and a big change for all of us - especially my mother-in-law. We cannot fault Overslade; the care, the staff and the environment are outstanding. We were particularly impressed with the activities that my mother-in-law really enjoyed. If we could have picked it up and moved it closer, she would still be there now. Thank you."

"My mum moved in six months ago, I feel the transition into Overslade was very good. Mum has been made to feel welcome and part of the community within the home. The home is very clean, staff are friendly and helpful. I am so pleased with the home overall and my mum is very happy and settled there. She takes part in the activities, which are varied and good, and also trips out. My feelings are that I now have a mother-daughter relationship back since she has been there and that is thanks to the good care she receives."

The carers and nurses really care about the residents and build up a lovely trust with them. Watching them work while we visit is awe-inspiring. "Dad has been a resident of Overslade House Care Home for nearly a year and his mental health is so much better than when he was home alone. His physical health is also improved now he is being looked after properly on a regular basis. "My first impressions of Overslade House were very favourable, clean, homely, well laid out and decorated. Mom, since moving there, is very settled, and the staff operate in a personal, friendly and caring manner. They laugh and joke with both residents and visitors alike, creating a fun, pleasant environment. Personalising Mom's room was not a problem even with wall-mounted items. Food is cooked onsite. The gardens are well-kept. There's a lovely free cafe, and the manager is always happy to help personally."

"Visitors to Overslade only get a very brief snapshot of the tireless work undertaken by the staff. It is impossible to please all of the people all of the time. Nevertheless all the staff over Overslade undertake without complaint one of the most demanding jobs on the planet - that of looking after the welfare of others not so fortunate. "I needed 9 days of respite care while my wife was away. Everything about Overslade suited my requirements perfectly. My room was spacious and comfortable. The food was superb. The staff were all happy and eager to provide high-quality care and service. I was encouraged to socialise and was able to sit with some of the more lively residents at meal times. To sum up - I spent a most enjoyable 9 days of respite care, it far exceeded my expectations."

"I find Overslade House perfect for my sister. The care she gets from the staff and nurses is excellent. Her accommodation is also very good, well kept and cleaned daily. Another important issue for me is health and safety in and around the building which also has a very high standard. Finally, the food which I consider important, this also comes with high standards."

"Mum moved into the home in January 2022 and stayed there until her recent death. I've been so impressed with the quality of the care received; although bed bound, she was always happy, contented and positive, and despite escalating health issues, never received anything but efficient and kind care. The management and admin team are great too; anything we asked of them, the answer was always 'yes'. Thank you to the whole team."

"My father came to Overslade in Feb 2021 after being in hospital for six weeks. He was so frail on his arrival; we believed he had not long to live. But the brilliant team at Overslade looked after him and built his strength up, and for a time, he became more like my dad used to be. "I would definitely recommend this home for anyone considering a loved one to be in nursing care. The best care was given to my mum and the support given to ourselves while my mum is here on palliative care really is appreciated. The staff are amazing and the hospitality shown to us all by the staff and management was first class. The home is very beautiful and is very clean and tidy. You can personalise the rooms with bedding curtains, flowers cushions etc which made the transition from her home to hospital then to care a little less traumatic for everyone concerned as it was things from home for our loved one and as for the home manager nothing is a problem and as a relative, this management team were amazing in answering any concerns we had in relation to mums condition. Although we didn’t have much to do with other parts of the house I can honestly say Memory lane is beautifully fitted out with pictures and memorabilia and provides top-class care for a loved one."

"It is only now that I put pen to paper, following the death of our beloved mum in October 2021. After looking after mum in her bungalow for several weeks she deteriorated and was admitted to the nursing home. There was no double that mum was loved and cared for by all the staff. Standards of care were second to none! The staff were very friendly, professional and listened to mum and family. Management Fantastic!"

"I visited Overslade on Sunday for the event with the Bikers and local singer (proud grandad!). It was a really hot day but had such a friendly atmosphere. The quality of the outside of the home was really well kept and beautiful plants making the whole area look well cared for. I spoke with a lady whose husband is a resident and she hadn't wanted to come that day, but as always when she made the effort she felt so boosted and the music bought back some very fond memories, that she shared with me. I didn't know that there were events there and could really see how much of a difference it made to both the residents but also their relatives. It was nice to see the staff so genuinely engaged and had a really inclusive feel - I've never been anywhere like residential care before but it was actually a really positive experience and I'll be recommending it to my friends. Please let me know if you do any more events as I'd like to bring my wife."

"My very good friend's husband moved into Overslade House a few weeks ago. He was very warmly welcomed by the Home Manager and staff. The more than amazing, outstanding care and kindness, always going above and beyond in all areas of care has really helped him to settle well and very happy in the home. We can't thank the management and staff enough for their continuous outstanding care and commitment, dignity and respect that's always shown, particularly through these very challenging times with the pandemic. Fantastic food and a great activities team who always have an excellent programme organised for the residents daily. I would not hesitate to extremely and highly recommend this care home to anyone else who may be looking for respite or permanent residential or nursing care."

"Mum has been at Overslade for over a year. Although I couldn't see her until March 2021, I felt she was safe and well cared for. Mum's room is clean, comfortable and homely. She enjoys the food and eats well. This is the first place she's been, including 2 hospitals, where her weight and general wellbeing have improved rather than deteriorated. There are staff members who she's become very fond of and who are loving towards her. I'm grateful to Overslade for their care and commitment during the pandemic. It was our good fortune that Mum was transferred there from hospital."

"Overslade House is the third nursing care home my mother has been in over the last 6 years, so I have experience of nursing home care and I can honestly tell you that the past three years since my Mum has been in Overslade House have been the best and she has been far happier and well cared for. My mother suffers from Lewy body dementia and many other medical issues and the care provided has really been excellent. They have nursed her through pneumonia and many other ailments with tender care and attention. I would certainly recommend Overslade House care home to others. Although, since COVID I have only been able to visit my mother in the 'Pod' they have made it possible. Prior to that when we were allowed to visit they always made me feel welcome and involved me in her care, keeping me updated at all times. The manager is really exceptional and is always available to talk when you need to discuss any issue. The staff are also incredible and they are always happy to support."

"My aunt was a resident at Overslade for 7 months from December 2019 to July 2020. When admitted she was made to feel very welcome and immediately felt at home in her lovely room within the quieter nursing unit. At all times during her stay, she was treated with great care and kindness whilst allowing her to remain as independent as possible whilst her health (both physical and dementia) deteriorated. During this difficult time of the COVID-19 pandemic the staff and management continued to uphold the values and high standards of care. Many thanks to the nursing and care staff who provided loving, caring and professional end of life care."

"My mum recently took very ill, and we were allowed to see her. Along with the paramedics and nursing staff, we made the difficult decision for Mum to be end of life nursed at the home. I cannot thank the staff on duty that day enough - the kindness shown to the family, and most of all Mum, was incredible. The particular kindness from a member of staff as I left (due to C19 visiting quota), was incredible. She went above and beyond to comfort me and offer support, and I'll always be grateful. I left Mum in capable nursing hands, and went home to wait for the inevitable bad news. It didn't come - four weeks later Mum is still with us, and going from strength to strength. Turning her regularly through her deep unconsciousness, then gently encouraging her to drink, and then to eat, has allowed Mum to fight another day! Every effort is made for me to stay in touch with Mum - I speak to the home or the staff every day, and the updates are priceless. What a wonderful place, I am so grateful."

"It’s difficult for me to find words to sum up the strength and courage of the staff in Overslade Lane Barchester Care Home during these really challenging times. They have cared for and nursed my mum through the Coronavirus, who has been so poorly on top of already being very unwell with complex underlying health issues and dementia. They have done it with grit and determination and smiled through the toughest of times. Our family are just so grateful for the contact they have maintained with us during these heartbreaking weeks. "After 60-years of marriage, it was a tribble blow when the NHS told me it was no longer considered safe to look after my beloved wife at home; adding the NHS was unable to fund any assistance for her to continue to live in our home. My wife was to be admitted into Barchester Overslade House Care Home. The attentiveness and care shown to my beloved by the management and all the staff was and remains beyond reproach. The Covid-19 arrived in the UK preventing visiting. Nevertheless, without fuss or clamour the management and staff of Barchester Home quietly rose to meet the enormous new challenges exhibiting a new commitment and pride. The staff helped residents with modern devices allowing relatives to see and hear their loved ones; thus demonstrating their total commitment to yesterday's heroes and heroines, and so becoming today's heroes and heroines. Covid-19 is an insidious and indiscriminate killer, and I am overwhelmed with gratitude to Barchester as my beloved has a caring home which is as safe as anywhere can be in these difficult times."

"My mother was taken into care 6 weeks after having an unforeseen and devastating stroke leaving her dependent on others for support. For the best part of 5 months, the staff and management of Overslade House did outstanding work to make her time there as comfortable and as pleasant as possible. At no time did she look unsettled or distressed and they gave her opportunities to join in with the more suitable activities. At the end of life, she was treated with respect and the staff and management offered sympathy and support throughout. Thank you Overslade for all you have done."

"My 86 year old mother arrived at Barchester Overslade House last October. She was so fragile and frail, weighing only 6 stone, after spending 3 weeks in hospital, within days she started to pick up, joining other residents in the day room, she soon got her appetite back with such a great menu that is offered every day, there is always something she likes. My Mum needs 24-hour care, she has dementia and is totally incontinent, she is well looked after, the carers are lovely and genuinely care about the residents. She is happy and now weighs over 7 stone and joins in the activities that are planned daily."

"I wanted to ensure that I posted a review of my recent experience of Overslade Care Home, Rugby, whilst my mum was a resident. My mum did not relish the thought of going into a care home for her palliative care, but agreed to do so on the basis that if she did not like it, she would then be transferred home. Within 3/4 days mum settled in very well and adjusted to the environment. The reason for this being that the home itself was lovely and very welcoming from meeting the Administrator on reception at the time, who stayed late to allow mum to be admitted. What can I say about the nursing care? Each and every one of the staff, whether it be the nursing or care staff were nothing short of amazing. They looked after my mum like one of their own and the way they spoke so gently to her, it was just so lovely. So gentle and reassuring that she was not a bother. In her final hours, they were so kind to all the family and most of all my amazing mum. Thank you isn't enough."

"The warm welcome and full understanding my Brother and I received when we went to "check out" Overslade for our Dad who was being transferred directly from Hospital was a sign of things to come. The standards attained by Nurses, Carers, Chefs, Cleaners, Maintenance, the list goes on, can only be described as First Class led by a Management Team who obviously believe in leading by example. Despite the lovely menus, Dad doesn't have much of an appetite at the moment but Carers and Catering Staff do all they can to tempt him with offers to prepare "what do you fancy?" Mobility is a problem and whilst for the most part, he prefers his own company, now and again he fancies a change, especially to sit in the beautiful garden. Help is always on hand to enable his little trips. Our family cannot speak too highly of Overslade and its Staff. The expert, understanding, patient, kind and loving care given and shown to Dad enables us to sleep nights knowing he is safe and so very well cared for."

"I like the style of the building, spacious and well ventilated. The temperature is well controlled and must keep the residents and staff comfortable. The cleaning staff do an excellent job of keeping the place looking pristine and a healthy environment. The food is well thought out - my brother is happy! From the manager and admin staff, to the engine house of the really dedicated carers and nursing section, one could not in honesty fault these stalwarts. Best of the human race."

"We had to move Dad into Overslade House in an emergency when Mum was taken ill. I've got to say from the first day, everyone at the home took great care of Dad. All the staff and management are lovely, nothing is too much trouble for them. If you do have any issues with anything, you just have to speak to a member of staff and it gets resolved. All our family are pleased that Dad is happy and settled here. 'Keep up the good work.'"

"Warmly welcomed by the manager of Overslade House; I was taken through the beautiful reception area to my comfortable and very tasteful room. I had to pinch myself! My on-going care here has been ‘top notch’. The nurses dispense kindness and understanding along with my medication; the reassuring and kind care assistants provide constant help and support in all situations; the staff who maintain high standards of cleanliness do so with a smile and a cheery word; the activity organisers are caring, kind and encouraging and the chef and her team prepare a wide variety of delicious meals from a very varied menu. The first class manager and her team are warm and caring, as they maintain Gold Standard care - yet they always have time for a word of encouragement or a humorous chat. I have been so blessed by the whole ethos of Overslade House and by the commitment of all the staff who provide such wonderful around the clock care."

"My dad was admitted to Overslade in December 2018, and the standard of care he's received over the last few months has been excellent. I can't find fault with a single thing but if one thing needs a mention: the staff are outstanding. They have all been kind and caring and have always been there for Dad (he said of one nurse "ever since I was admitted, she's been a real friend to me.") The management are always there to talk to us worried relatives in details about any questions we have. There's plenty of staff, and they never seem too hurried or overworked to take care of the residents; they take the time to make sure Dad has the best possible care. We've been very impressed all round, and from a relative's point of view, I can relax a little, knowing that my dad couldn't be better looked after than at Overslade."

If I have any criticism it would be regarding the frequency of changing bed linen especially for someone confined to bed when there are food spills etc. However, this was far outweighed by the overall caring environment."

"My father spent the last few weeks of his life at Overslade House. At the hospital we'd been given a poor outlook and realised that there were only days left for Dad, and were very apprehensive when it was suggested that we look at a Care Home for him to see his last days out, knowing that his own home would have been his preferred option, but there was no time to arrange that. But on first stepping into Overslade House to see where we might have to send him, we felt an instant relief, and knew by the welcome, the smiles from the staff, the smiles from the guests, the look and the overall feel of the place, that getting Dad a room there was the best thing for Dad and us his family. And we weren't disappointed. Dad's last days were as comfortable for him as it was for us. And we couldn't have wished for anything more. Thank you to everyone at Overslade House, including all the other guests in Dad's unit, for making that so."

"Amazing place. Mum moved into Overslade in the spring of 2016. She was end of life care with COPD. She passed in October 2017. A life longer than we expected and I’m sure that is down to Overslade's care. From day 1 not only was Mum welcomed but myself and my family were too. Everyone knew our names from carers/nurses to the manager and receptionists. They were all friendly and helpful. They even loved and welcomed my dog who went to stay with Mum most days. Mum loved all the staff and they honestly could not do enough for her. Mum spent a lot of time in and out of hospital with chest infections which were spotted early on by the nursing staff. After bad experiences with another residential place, the staff being so watchful and caring here was a big relief to me. Mum enjoyed the day trips out, you couldn’t stop her from putting her name down for an adventure, even though they wore her out. I can not thank them all enough for their care, concern and love they gave."

"I cannot fault Barchester Overslade House. They score highly on all categories. The carers are genuinely caring and empathetic people, always friendly and open. "My Mother was in Overslade Care Home from May 2017 until December 2017 when she passed away peacefully in the care of the wonderful staff at Overslade. As a nurse, I had many fears about placing my mother (also an ex-nurse) in a care home, but it was clear that she needed full nursing care. It was very reassuring to observe the care that the staff gave, any queries I had were answered immediately and cheerfully. Sometimes when I arrived to visit, there were staff caring for Mum and I could overhear them talking to her so kindly. She was always clean, a jug of water always in reach, a call bell at her side. I know that Mum would have told me in no uncertain terms if the staff weren't caring, but she always smiled and said they were lovely. I visited several times a week and I only ever observed kindliness. Thank you!"

"My mother was admitted to Barchester Overslade House in June 2016 as a palliative care resident for possibly a few weeks or months. Her care and treatment by the nursing staff was excellent. The carers were always considerate and thoughtful and the support team made her time there as enjoyable as possible. Mum died in May 2017, exceeding the life expectancy originally diagnosed and I feel this was, on the whole, because she received such an excellent level of care and support. Mum died a few weeks ago but I feel that mum's last year was spent in comfortable surroundings, with dignity, constant care and she made many new friends. The support also extended to all her family - we were always made welcome."

"Myself and my sister in law visited over a dozen nursing homes looking for a place for my husband who had Alzheimer's. As soon as we walked into Overslade House we both knew this was the place. All the staff were friendly and welcoming, the home was spotlessly clean and beautiful and suitably decorated for people with dementia. The meals were delicious and cooked fresh on the premises and nothing was too much trouble. The care he received, in the three months he was there, was wonderful. They were so caring and supportive, not only to both him and myself but to the family and friends who were there constantly in his final days."

"Our mum stayed at the nursing home for several months and then was able to return to her bungalow. She was poorly and frightened on admission and soon settled in. The welcome she got was so warm. My sister, brother and I were always made to feel welcome too. We were all treated with respect and listened to if we had any questions. We were always greeted with smiles from staff. Mum was always treated with dignity. The home is a beautiful place with lovely furnishings. There is always a great variety of activities - the staff (from cleaners, cooks - to nurses and management) are fantastic."

"My mother has been a resident at Overslade House for 7 years. Recently, she celebrated her 90th birthday. Staff helped me to organise a tea party for her in the coffee lounge and the kitchen provided a buffet for the family attending. It was hassle free for me and everything worked like clockwork. The food was lovely. Recently, the manager asked if I would like my mother to move to a smaller more comfortable unit in the home. She thought it would suit my mother better. It has been a good move thanks to the care of the manager."

"My mum was admitted the day before her 90th birthday in June this year, on palliative care, after spending nearly eight weeks in hospital. All the staff, without exception, were extremely caring and understanding, helping her to settle in as comfortably as possible. The chef even provided a beautiful birthday cake the next day for mum to share with her family and friends! Since then my mum has made such an improvement in herself and is able to be more independent again, with the genuine care and support of the staff at Overslade House. Above all, whatever upsets or concerns my mum has expressed the staff have dealt with them in a compassionate, respectful and thoughtful way - nothing seems to be too much trouble. They have a wonderful team at Overslade House and I feel very lucky to have my mum in such a caring environment at this time and I appreciate all the support my mum, myself and family all receive."
