Activities at Ottley House Care Home

At Ottley House, we offer a person-centred activities programme, and aim to match residents' abilities and interests with meaningful activities of the correct degree of challenge that promotes their health and well-being. We also provide visual, tactile, audible and olfactory sensory experiences. There are weekly music/movement therapy sessions, 'Oomph' sessions, and arts & crafts classes to help improve, maintain and refine motor skills. We enjoy regular visits from entertainers, musicians and animal therapists, as well as pub nights, 'food from around the world' days, and minibus outings to places of interest.

Cath Smallman

Activities Coordinator

Hi, I'm Cath, the Activities Coordinator here at Ottley House. My days are spent making sure that the residents in the home have an interesting and active social programme to enjoy each day. Residents individual preferences are considered all the time in a person centred approach and I welcome feedback from families too.

Life at Ottley House Care Home

RAF Cosford

RAF Cosford

We had a great day out to RAF Cosford – as you can see, the weather was good to us. Residents were given a guided tour and reminisced about their time in the military.

Vintage Garden Fête

The rain stayed away on Saturday 29th July, which made for a really enjoyable afternoon.

We were honoured that Mrs Margaret Thrower, daughter of the famous gardener, Percy Thrower, came and opened our fête.

We were all entertained by Bruce Mclaine, who belted out some songs that we were all able to sing and dance to.

Staff were put in the stocks and given a right soaking, and we also had a tombola and lucky dip stall, along with plenty of tea and cakes as refreshments.

A raffle was held at the end of the afternoon with some great prizes, which were all kindly donated by friends, relatives and local businesses.

Many people attended and said it was the best one yet.

Farmer Phil Fills Our Hearts

Farmer Phil Fills Our Hearts

We had a lovely afternoon being serenaded by Farmer Phil. We all look forward to his visits, as we know how busy he is working on his own farm, but he always seems to find the time to come and entertain us with some good ol' tunes that we all know and love. It doesn’t take long to get us 'moo-ving.'

A lot going on in the Ottley Allotment!

We have been very busy planting fruit and vegetables and as the photos show they are coming on a treat!

We are growing tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, rhubarb, strawberries, raspberries and lettuce as well as other varieties of fruit and veg, and staff and residents look forward to eating the “fruits” of our labour!

General Manager, Jamie Stubbs, brought his family dog, Tilly, into the home on 'Bring your dog to work day'. All the residents were so excited to meet Tilly as you can see from the photo!
