Activities at Oak Grange Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

We hosted a royal-themed afternoon tea dance to celebrate the Queen and Philip's 70th anniversary.

Shopping Trip

We had a lovely shopping trip to our local Asda to buy small gifts to put in the Samaritan’s shoe box, which has the aims of sharing love and joy in the form of a simple shoebox gift through Operation Christmas Child.

Residents said that this was something they would really like to do. We had great pleasure choosing lovely gifts to go in our two boxes – one for a little boy and one for a little girl.

We’ve had a lovely thank you postcard back.

Remembrance Gathering

We were assisted by some very special visitors – five members of the Mercian Regiment, Dale Barracks, Chester – to assist with presenting a special award to residents who helped or served during the Second World War.

The Oak Grange Choir performed 'I Vow to Thee My Country' and we had readings of poems from 'The Fallen' and 'In Flanders Fields'. We also all sang the National Anthem.

It all ended with a happy medley of wartime favourites and a sherry toast!

A display table was set up that contained some of residents' wartime experiences and service histories.

With much gratitude and respect to all.

Barchester's 25th Anniversary

We had a special cake made for Barchy Bear and sang 'Happy Birthday' to him.

Everyone at the party had a free raffle ticket and lots of people went home happy with a mystery prize!

We also blew up 25 helium balloons, which were all released into the sky – all to celebrate 25 years of Barchester.

There were plenty of glamorous costumes for residents, staff members and visitors to wear at our 'Glitz & Glamour' party, and our dining room was transformed into a 1950s rock 'n' roll diner.

It was an afternoon of great fun and the Oak Grange Choir performed a medley of songs for this special occasion, including 'Congratulations' and 'What a Wonderful World'.
