Activities at Newton House Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Newton House Care Home
Hearts & Crafts
This morning residents began building up to our valentines day activities as they came together to get their craft on with “Hearts & Crafts”.
Creating some beautiful masterpieces that will be laminated and displayed in residents windows who are nursed in bed.
Arts & Crafts sessions are a wonderful way in providing a sense of achievement, increasing dexterity & coordination whilst living with increased purpose.
Long Service Award
We'd like to congratulate the incredible Diane Smith for receiving her 20 years service award as staff Nurse at Newton House.
Diane has dedicating 20 wonderful years to Barchester and caring for so many of our residents and their family members, She is a huge asset to the home and delivers her role in such a passionate and caring way, with a brilliant sense of humour thrown in too.
We are truly inspired by her hard work & dedication and a massive congratulations and heartfelt thank you for all that she does in our home.
Metal Detection Dogs
Across our services residents had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Emilia from Medical Detection Dogs.
Emilia took us on a journey to discover how the organisation began training dogs to support people with complex health conditions, saving their lives on a daily basis.
Using their amazing sense of smell, these dogs can identify odour changes emitted prior an episode and alert the person to take preventative action.
We were introduced to the wonderful dogs and the science behind the sniff. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our canine-loving residents.
The Joy of Flowers
Resident’s have enjoyed a wonderful sensory sensation, with the most beautiful, vibrant flowers.
Flower arranging is Resident Winnie’s favourite activity to participate in, Winnie was a much loved member of St Wulfram’s Church, and she created the flower arrangements at the church in Grantham for many years.
Some beautiful creations were made throughout the day, and we would like to say a massive, heartfelt thank you to the B-Hive Community Centre for their kindness & generosity in gifting these beautiful flowers for our residents to enjoy.
Visit to the B-Hive
Karen and Sabrina from the activities team recently took a group of residents to the B-Hive community centre to participate in their dementia cafe.
The B-Hive community centre is a welcoming and inclusive space that provides a range of activities and support for people living with dementia and their families . During the visit, the residents had the opportunity to engage in various activities, meeting the team and enjoying a good old fashioned chit chat with members from the Grantham Community over tea and cake.
High Tea Event
Newton House hosted a delightful High Tea event featuring cream tea and delicious snacks prepared by the home's kitchen team. The event was a resounding success, with residents, staff, and members of the local community coming together to enjoy an afternoon of decadence.
The event was held in the home's café area which was decorated with beautiful floral arrangements and elegant table settings. The guests were treated to a variety of scrumptious snacks, including cream scones with raspberry jam and a variety of cakes.
The cream tea was a particular highlight, with guests complimenting the quality of the scones and cream.
