Activities at Newton House Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Country and Western Day

The Newton House Care Home in Grantham saw our colleagues and residents hold a country and western day in style by hosting a day of cowboy themed fun with a ranch inspired party, musical entertainment and fancy dress.

The day saw our residents and family members come together and enjoy a Wild West themed quiz! This prompted much discussion over everyones favourite western classics.

The afternoon saw our day of cowboy fun reach a climax as we welcomed back home favourite singer Steve Carmel as he gave a rootin’tootin’ music performance which had his audience of residents and family members singing along and dancing to a collection of country and western classics.

Art Exhibition

Newton House Care Home in Grantham celebrated the works of talented local artist Matthew Cutforth by holding an art exhibition of his work on Tuesday 7th November.

Matthews’s speciality and passion is African Wildlife, which he specialises in and brings to life through his work.

The exhibition featured and included a range of his most recent pieces, which were available for members of the local community, relatives and residents to purchase or order.

Refreshments and snacks were prepared by the home’s hospitality team featuring a selection of cheeses and wine.

Afternoon of Cabaret Wonder

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Newton House Care Home in Grantham welcomed back Neil & Nicky from Clearer Productions for a beautiful music performance.

Beaming faces lit the room at today’s magical live musical performance from the talented Neil & Nicky as they belted out songs from the cabaret circuit including hits by Judy Garland, Peggy Lee and Shirley Basset’s ‘Hey Big Spender’

General Manager. Sonia Fairhurst, said “Music has been recognised as an effective way of engaging people including those with dementia which make up a large proportion of care home residents.  Music evokes memories, it unites and connects people, no matter what their age, to a moment in time and brings joy both to those performing and those listening.”

Our resident ambassador Beryl said “The whole show was inclusive and seeing the beautiful dresses was such a delight, and the wonderful shoes too much. Nicky and Neil are so very pleasant to us all”

Baking Fun

Our residents got stuck into some good old fashioned baking fun at Newton House. Making lots of delicious traditional fruit scones!

Our residents and colleagues were able to all reminisce together about what they used to love baking for their families whilst still practising those important lifestyle skills

Residents were then able to enjoy tasting our yummy home-made treats, washed down with a lovely cup of tea.
