Meet the team
Our wonderful team comprises nurses, carers, activities coordinators, chefs, housekeepers and more. These people are here to ensure that residents enjoy their time at the home and are supported to live life to the fullest. Meet some of our staff below:
Hi, my name is Sheela and I am the Acting General Manager here at Newton House. Welcome to our website!
I joined the management team of Barchester as a Regional Support Manager, and I became the Acting General Manager at Newton House in December 2019, bringing with me 34 years of experience in the health & social care sector.
I am a dual-qualified nurse specialising in care for the elderly. I have also completed my Registered Manager Award and achieved the 'Train the Trainer' qualification, which allowed me to support my team even better at my previous care home.
I have first-hand experience caring for a relative living with dementia, and I am passionate about making a difference to the lives of residents living at Newton House.
My name is Leticia and I am the deputy manager here at Newton House. I am a qualified nurse who has worked in the care sector for many years.
I have enjoyed a successful career to date and remain passionate about providing quality care to those we support. I work to maintain a high standard of care in the home.
I qualified as a RMN in 1985 and then as a RGN in 1987. I have worked mainly for NHS mental health services, but in 1988, I transferred to Newton House as Head of Brownlow, the home's mental health unit. I enjoy working with people with dementia and to try to keep up-to-date with current research in effort to improve the lives of those I support.
I gained my qualification in South Africa in 1969. I moved from South Africa in 2000, after I gained employment at Newton House and I am now the Head of Somerby, which is an elderly frail nursing unit at the home.
I studied at the University of Nottingham and gained my diploma in 2012. I then went on to do a course in accounting and, after I gained my degree, I realised that nursing is my passion. I have worked in nursing homes since 2016 and I am now the head of Newton House's Watergate community, and I look forward to a long, happy future here.
I am one of the longest serving staff at Newton House. I work as a senior administrator here and support the team with various essential day to day duties. I joined as a receptionist in 1994 and then progressed to administrator. I look forward to welcoming you.

As the activities team, we develop and oversee an active living programme for each resident, which encourages mobility, social contact, independence and fun. Each and every person can thrive and live to their full potential with no day ever being the same. We bring great enthusiasm and spark to Newton House and have one passion, which is to deliver an amazing and vibrant activities programme to cater to all tastes and abilities.
Having been part of the staff team here at Newton for almost 20 years, I am originally from Nottingham and have travelled a lot as part of my career development. Living locally, I enjoy playing football and also coaching for junior teams.
As Maintenance Manager at Newton House, i take full ownership to ensure the up keep of the home is always maintained and any potential areas of improvement are identified and rectified asap.
I joined the team at Newton House over 12 years ago and really enjoy my work. For 8 of those years I have been Head of Housekeeping and the favourite part of my work is the residents. Outside of work I enjoy reading, music and I am a true animal lover.
