Activities at Meadowbeck Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Tina Holmes

Lead Activities Co-ordinator

Hi, I’m Tina, and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Meadowbeck.

I began working at the home as a Care Assistant in 1999. In 2014, I changed my role to Social Support Worker, which I enjoyed, as it involved supporting residents at Meadowbeck in their daily lifestyles.

I then became the Activities Coordinator in May 2017. I love working with our residents and getting to know them and their families. In addition to supporting them maintain an active lifestyle I always ensure to personally get to know each resident when they move in with us to support them in the continuation of any hobbies or interests the might have.

Life at Meadowbeck Care Home

Pamper session

The ladies of Meadowbeck love a little pampering, and Tina the homes Activities Coordinator was only too happy to oblige when one resident asked for her nails to be painted.  With a relaxing hand soak, gentle soothing hand massage before nicely finishing off with a soft natural pink nail polish of her choice, before settling back to enjoy a nice cup of tea and show off the end result!  Throughout calming music was gently played in the background so everyone was in the mood.

Dignity organ visits Meadowbeck

Residents and team members were delighted when J Rymer funeral directors kindly donated time to visit us here at Meadowbeck with the Dignity Charity Organ treating our residents to a live organ show, this really did go down a treat as they were singing and dancing to the well-known tunes played.

Vocalist returns to home!

Residents and staff at Meadowbeck were delighted to welcome popular vocalist, Christie Clifford back in to the home.  Christie is a stylish vocalist who performs well known hits from Show songs, Ballads and country music. Christie has been visiting the home to entertain our residents for many years and it was great to finally have her back with us which had residents toe-tapping and singing along too!  Everyone is looking forward to her next performance.

Residents discover the history and treasures of Hereford Cathedral

Residents had a lovely afternoon joining the team from Hereford Cathedral as they were given a glimpse of the spectacular building and its treasures as they were taken on a tour of the site.

From the stunning gardens which lead down to the River Wye, to the Mappa Mundi and Chained Library, the virtual visit shared the history and beauty of the historic building.

It was wonderful to learn more about the history and beauty of Hereford Cathedral.

A floral afternoon

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Meadowbeck were treated to an interactive virtual floristry masterclass courtesy of Master Florist, Michal Kowalski, from Blooming Haus.

Blooming Haus started with a small pop-up shop in Chelsea.  They have since blossomed spectacularly on to the floristry scene as ‘floral engineers’, carving themselves an outstanding reputation as one of the UK’s most innovative floral design studios

Magic table

Residents at Meadowbeck enjoy a varied life enrichment programme to keep the mind, body and soul active. Each day there are popular group activities bringing everyone together along with individual Resident centred activities.

Residents enjoyed a fun filled afternoon with sensory fun on the homes magic table.
