Meet the Meadowbeck Care Home Team

Our wonderful team comprises nurses, carers, activities coordinators, chefs, housekeepers and more. These people are here to ensure that residents enjoy their time at the home and are supported to live life to the fullest. Meet some of our staff below:

Annaliza Kemp

General Manager

Hi, I am Annaliza the General Manager here at Meadowbeck Care Home. I was previously the homes Deputy Manager and bring a wealth of knowledge to the role.  I am originally from the Philippines. I completed a BSC in nursing in 1994 and I now have over 25 years’ experience in general nursing.   I am a dedicated, hardworking, compassionate and conscientious nurse, and I pride myself on my professionalism whilst carrying out my work duties.

I believe in establishing trust and building a good relationship with residents, loved ones, staff and other care professionals, which enables me to provide the best care for those living here at Meadowbeck Care Home.

Helen Lea

Deputy Manager

I am the Deputy Manager here at Meadowbeck, I have worked here since 1994, I started working as a Care Assistant, then went on to do my NVQ Level 3 and passed my Care Practitioner course in 2016, eventually being promoted to Unit Manager in 2019”, In 2022 I took on the role as Deputy Manager.

My favourite part of my role is building strong relationships with our residents and their families and friends.

Helen Charlesworth

Unit Manager

I am a qualified nurse of many years, and I have been working in care homes since 1994.

I care passionately about the elderly and have great amount of respect for them. I strive to promote independence and deliver high quality, person-centred care.

I am trained to provide dementia and palliative care.

Hillary Atkinson

Unit Manager

I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1996 and I have worked in various hospitals in the Caribbean, and as a Deputy Matron in George Town Hospital in Guyana. I then migrated to the UK in 2001 and have worked for Barchester ever since. I have great respect for the elderly and I am passionate about providing person-centred care.

Mark Shelton

Customer Relationship Manager

Mark has been a part of the Barchester family since 2014.

Having come into the company as a Care Assistant, later a Senior Carer, he then moved onto Activities, becoming Senior Activities for the North Yorkshire area and now as a Customer Relationship Manager.

Marks passion has always been found in wanting to better the lives our residents and to help them find and enjoy new experiences. taking great pride in supporting our homes and being there for our residents and families.

Within his role Mark supports our home with Community Engagement, building relationships with groups and charities in the area and supporting our wonderful activities teams with their home events.

Naomi Dunnington

Administrator

Hi, I am Naomi, I have worked at Meadowbeck since October 2023 and am the Administrator.  I am responsible for all the financial activities in the home along with the general administration. 

Before joining Meadowbeck i worked at one of Barchester's sister homes for 18 years. I love to welcome new residents and families into our home and supporting them throughout the journey. 

Tina Holmes

Lead Activities Co-ordinator

Hi, I’m Tina, and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Meadowbeck. 

I began working at the home as a Care Assistant in 1999. In 2014, I changed my role to Social Support Worker, which I enjoyed, as it involved supporting residents at Meadowbeck in their daily lifestyles. 

I then became the Activities Coordinator in May 2017. I love working with our residents and getting to know them and their families. In addition to supporting them maintain an active lifestyle I always ensure to personally get to know each resident when they move in with us to support them in the continuation of any hobbies or interests the might have. 

Daniel

Head Chef

Hi I am Daniel and I am the Head Chef here at Meadowbeck, I began working in the home in January 2024.

Daniel along with his team is responsible for the catering service throughout the home. Daniel plans menus with input from residents and relatives to ensure balanced, nutritious meals throughout the day. Menus change four times a year to reflect seasonal produce and ensure variety. 

Daniel started in hospitality over 20 year ago as a kitchen assistant progressing to chef and head chef. Daniel worked with fresh Mediterranean food, in Italian, and French and British restaurants. In the last 2 years Daniel manage the kitchen operations of an independent hospitality group at a seaside resort in North Wales.

Gary Leighton

Head of Maintenance

I previously worked for 25 years with Chubb, before joining Barchester in 2020 at one of our sister homes, I transferred to Meadowbeck in 2022.

I am dedicated to my role ensuring the safety of our residents living here at Meadowbeck is priority, keeping the home well maintained for all our residents and making sure it is a safe place for all my colleagues to work.

Carly Collins

Head of Housekeeping

My name is Carly, the Head Housekeeper at Meadowbeck. 

I started in 2018 as a Care Assistant before joining the Housekeeping team in 2021.

In 2024 the opportunity arose to become the homes Head Housekeeper. 

Myself and the team great pride in ensuring the residents home is clean and kept at the highest standards and ensuring the day to day running of the residents laundry service.

Caroline Harman

Admin Assistant

Hi, my name is Caroline, I am the Administrator Assistant here at Meadowbeck.

I joined Barchester in 2000, first starting at our sister home, Mulberry Court. In 2016 I transferred to Stamford Bridge Beaumont as Receptionist and then transferred to Meadowbeck to join the admin team as Admin Assistant in December 2022. In my spare time, I am a busy Mum of 2 children.

Edith

Resident Ambassador

Introducing Meadowbeck’s Resident Ambassador, Edith.   Edith has been residing here at Meadowbeck since January 2017 and contributes a positive attitude amongst the residents. Edith told the team...

“I am pleased to have been chosen to represent my fellow residents as I am always willing to help other residents with any issues they may have and love to partake in activities. I attend all residents meetings and I am always welcoming any questions, about Meadowbeck, especially if you are considering living here yourself.”

I am very happy living here, we are a very friendly welcoming home and since I have been living here my life has turned around in a very positive way.

Joanna Szymanska

Care Practitioner

Hi, I am Joanna and I am a Care Practitioner here at Meadowbeck.

I started working for Barchester in 2018 as a senior carer, I then went on to complete my care practitioner course in 2019. I am currently doing my nursing degree at university.

I enjoy getting to know residents past history and delivering good person centred care.

Margaret Woodward

Activities Co-ordinator

Hello, I am Margaret. I started working at Meadowbeck in 2020 as a bank care assistant, during my time as a bank worker I picked up a couple of shifts to support Tina our Lead Activities Co-ordinator and loved the role instantly.

I became a permanent staff member at Meadowbeck in 2023 and support Tina day to day in supporting our residents maintain an active lifestyle and keep up with their individual hobbies and interests. My favourite part of the job at Meadowbeck is seeing the enjoyment and smiles on our residents faces - it's priceless. 

Tracey Addy

Housekeeper

Tracey manages team of 8 staff to ensure that the home is clean, fresh and inviting at all times and is responsible for providing a full laundry service for all residents. Having joined the home in 1998 it is the 'family' feel to the home that has kept her with us!

Sue Cowling

Hairdresser

Hi I am Sue and I am the Hairdresser at Meadowbeck, I began working in the home in 2022, I also work in one of our sister homes. I qualified in 1989 as a Hairdresser, I love my job and visiting Meadowbeck working within such a friendly home.

I enjoy visiting the elderly in care homes each week especially listening to all the fascinating tales they have to tell.

Ted - Pet therapy dog

Hi, my name is Ted, and I am a loveable 6 year old springer spaniel and I am a volunteer for Therapy Dogs nationwide. With my owner, Hilary - we began our volunteering journey in 2022,

I enjoy bringing lots of joy, comfort and smiles to the residents and care staff at Meadowbeck when we visit and I have made lots of companions within the home. I like a fuss so please come and say hello when you are visiting Meadowbeck.

When I am not in volunteering mode, I love going for long walks, splashing in any water I can find and playing with my toys.
