Activities at Maple Leaf Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

National Picnic week

18th- 25th June is National picnic week. During the week, our residents participated in both indoor and outdoor games, we were lucky with the weather and enjoyed the sunshine in the garden. A whole host of treats were laid on to celebrate, we had a picnic in the lounge area and hampers, prepared by our talented hospitality team, were packed to the brim with a selection of sweet and savoury treats, which we enjoyed al fresco in the garden. We all had a wonderful time, we also took   to Wydham park to enjoy the sunshine for lunch, we enjoyed our sandwiches on the bench and ice cream for after.

Charity run

Alison Bradley, Courtney Doncaster, Molly Ellis and Hattie Bridge Staff took part in a sponsored 5k fun run in the Nottingham edition of the popular Race For Life event, which raises money for Cancer Research. Residents, their relatives and staff were all very supportive of the team, giving out advice and cheering them on as they practiced in the garden when they first started to train for their fundraising challenge.

Jubilee Celebrations

Residents enjoyed a three day celebration weekend to celebrate the Queens Platiunum Jubliee, to start the week the residents joined a virtual event posy making, residents had the opportunity to watch how to make a posy and make their own to decorate the home. The flowers were red, white and blue. The next day the residents watched trooping of the colours, resident Ann use to play in a brass band and would regular play at such events around the county and dressed for the occasion in her union jack dress.
