Activities at Maple Leaf Lodge Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Courtney Doncaster
My name is Courtney and I am proud to be the Activities Coordinator for Maple Leaf Lodge.
I have worked at Maple Leaf since 2020 and I started as a night carer before taking the opportunity to lead the activities team. My team and I ensure that the residents enjoy a range of fun and varied activities from outings and external performers to animal therapy and gardening.
We are always open to new ideas so please join us for a chat at any time.

Life at Maple Leaf Lodge Care Home
Pressed Flower Art
Residents have been busy this morning creating pressed flower sun catchers! The flowers were pressed by our residents a while ago and used today to create some beautiful sun catchers, that are now displayed in rooms and lounges.
Resident Pat said it was lovely to a have a morning of doing something different, what a lovely idea.
National Pizza Day
What a lovely afternoon on Memory Lane, practicing life style skills to chop vegetables & create delicious Pizzas!!
Whilst the pizzas were in the oven we had a little craft session designing our own paper Pizza’s. Everyone agreed, tasting the pizzas was the best bit of all!
School Visit
The Children joined us this morning to do some crafts with our Residents to celebrate Chinese New Year which is on Sunday the 22nd of January. This year is the year of the Rabbit. The Children helped the Residents to make Lanterns to hang in their windows & brought with them Rabbit shaped biscuits they had made at School for our Residents to enjoy. It has been a fantastic morning with so many smiles all my round.
The Big Knit
Resident Sylvia has been busy knitting for charity. Sylvia has been knitting bottle hats for the charity ageuk and innocent. Sylvia used to knit blankets and bonnets for the children’s ward at her local hospital. She has always been a keen knitter and enjoys doing anything for the community and charities.
Welcoming in the New Year
Residents and Staff welcomed in the New Year with a delicious New Year’s day dinner and of course a confetti cannon. We are so excited to see what the year 2023 has install for all of us at Maple Leaf.
Royal Parks London
Across our services our residents have enjoyed a wonderful live virtual talk about starlings, one of the UK’s most gregarious birds, hosted by Rachel Dowse from The Royal Parks London.
Rachel examined our long history with this bird and the importance of common species to our lives. Our residents had the opportunity to find out more about the great murmuration and why we need to pay special attention to these beauties before it's too late.
The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.
