Activities at Mallard Court Care Home

We provide a wide range of group activities and individual one to one activities to meet our residents needs including musical entertainers, PAT dog visits, minibus outings, themed events and much more!

We take a person centred approach when planning each individuals activities so they can achieve a feeling of self worth and well-being.

We hold monthly meetings with the residents and also regular meetings with their family and friends, discussing any ideas that they may have, and also any problems that their may have. Both of our activities coordinators, Steve and Lynne, have completed NAPA Activity Workers Level 2 Award training, and are continually seeking new ideas so we can ensure life in the home is as varied and interesting as possible. We encourage strong community links with the local schools, colleges and local charities in the community. Steve is supported also by his dogs, Tia, Pebbles and Oscar who give great pleasure to the residents in our home, and can often be seen either on a persons lap or being taken for a walk around the home. Many of the visitors that come into Mallard Court commented that it is so friendly and welcoming.

Steve Moss

Lifestyle Coordinator

Hi, my name is Steve, and I have been a Lifestyle Coordinator at Mallard Court since 2006, and have achieved the NAPA (National Association of Activity Providers) Level 2 Award in Activity Provision in the Care Sector.

We provide a wide range of activities for the people we support, as well as for their families and friends. I also love to have one-to-one chats with residents who like to reminisce about their lives over a cup of tea and some biscuits.

We have our own minibus and have fun days out sight-seeing, having a picnic or going a local pub for a drink and a meal. We also arrange for local artists to provide musical entertainment for everyone at Mallard Court.

Life at Mallard Court Care Home

Residents enjoy themed evening

Residents of Mallard Court enjoyed a superb selection of Chinese dishes prepared by our talented chefs. The dining room was decorated with flags, dragons and lanterns. Wine was sipped while listening to relaxing Chinese music. It was a lovely time to all get together and enjoy a fantastic meal together and interesting facts and photography on China.  Residents are looking forward to the next themed activity.

Residents enjoy pet therapy

We are so fortunate at Mallard Court to have pat dog visits with Lifestyle co-ordinator Stephen bringing  his own pat dogs in to our home for the residents to give a cuddle and play with them.

Pet therapy is a very important activity for most of the residents which will bring back fond memories of having their own pets during their lifetime

Chef cooks up a storm!

One of the chef’s at Mallard Court, Gill loves to experiment with making mouth-watering culinary delights for their residents and this week,  Gill made chocolate spoons with one of her many moulds, topped with homemade butter cream and fresh strawberries.

Stephen Moss, activities coordinator said “I can assure you they were delicious as I had to sample as part of quality control!”

Magic table fun

Mallard Court Residents enjoyed an interactive session on the homes Omii magic table which was a roaring success.  The magic table is designed to support residents living with dementia by keeping them engaged through specialised games.   The light projections respond to hand and arm movement allowing residents to stay stimulated and most of all, have fun!

Birthday celebrations

With lockdown restrictions, Birthday celebrations aren't quite what everyone had planned but here at Mallard Court resident Neil celebrated his 70th birthday in style with a lovely meal with his fellow residents before being presented with a scrumptious chocolate cake.

Residents and staff joined together in singing Happy Birthday then watching him blow his candles out.

A splash of creative art

Residents from Mallard Court often get together to enjoy their regular art sessions which supports their creative ideas and encourages different methods of Art.

This class is particularly popular with all and everyone thoroughly enjoys a get together with a cuppa and a slice of delicious cake.   Residents enjoy the colouring as find it very calming and therapeutic. It enhances mindfulness and promotes a positive mental well-being.
