Activities at Lancaster Grange Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Charlotte Thompson
We would like to introduce to you our Senior Activities Coordinator, Charlotte Thompson. Charlotte has worked at Barchester since 2015 and prides herself on delivering a person centred approach, valuing equality, diversity & offering tailored activities. Charlotte joined the team at Tennyson Wharf in October 2022 before moving back to us here at Lancaster Grange in January 2023.
Charlotte is pleased to be welcoming families and volunteers back into the home. Charlotte is a senior activities coordinator and enjoys supporting other homes in our region as part of her job role.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Lancaster Grange Care Home
Remembrance Service
We had the privilege to host the Remembrance Service by the Royal Air Forces Association Balderton Branch.
Lancaster Grange is built on the old site of RAF Balderton, we often welcome them into our home.
Residents and staff joined them outside for the service held at our garden monument and enjoyed refreshments and time to converse afterwards in our Coffee shop.
Our residents on Sherwood Community have been busy with poppy crafting in October, creating life like clay poppies in our Creative Crafting workshops. They have knitted brooch poppies with the guidance of one of our volunteers Sue.
The potato printed envelopes represent letters sent from the front line. We’ve called it ‘Letters of Love, Sorrow and Joy’

Victoria - Our Amazing Volunteer!
We would like to share with you our amazing Volunteer Victoria, who has been visiting us since her Grandparents were residents here at Lancaster Grange.

Children in Need's Pudsey Bear couldn’t come…so his friend Nelly the Elephant visited instead.
Nelly was welcome by residents and staff that had joined in with the fundraising fancy dress theme.
Birthdays with Joy
We pride ourselves on person centred Birthday Celebrations here at Lancaster Grange.
One resident celebrated their 90th Birthday today, with a traditional Sing-a-long with his friends in Sherwood Lounge. Another resident celebrated her birthday with King Charles III surrounded by friends, and had fun and laughter around the table with the London Memory game and Birthday Picture Bingo.

Knitting for the Homeless
On cosy mornings at Lancaster Grange, we gathered together in our Coffee shop for a Knit, Natter and Crochet session. Residents are carrying on with their knitting charity project, knitting hats for the homeless. Hilda was proud to show us her crocheting, she like to make baby blankets. Dorothy was knitting baby matinee coats that she donates to charity, while others enjoyed the social nattering and discussing the Daily Sparkle articles.
Fashions through the decades
We had a fantastic afternoon with Chris from Creative Paths at Lancaster Grange. Chris held a ‘Fashion through the Decades’ reminiscing talk and discussion with original pieces of clothing and accessories. Resident Elsie was proud to show her Wedding and family Christening gown to the group. Barbara fashioned the gangster look and Eric had us in fits of laughter.
