Activities at Lancaster Grange Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Creative crafting

Our residents on Sherwood Community have been busy with poppy crafting for the past few weeks, creating life like clay poppies in our Creative Crafting workshops. They have knitted brooch poppies with the guidance of one of our volunteers Sue.

The potato printed envelopes represent letters sent from the front line. We’ve called it ‘Letters of Love, Sorrow and Joy’

Please come and have a look next time your in Lancaster Grange, our knitted poppies are on sale!  Donations are going to the Royal British Legion.

Countryside drives

Country side drives today with residents from Lancaster Grange, an ideal opportunity for our residents to enjoy time outside the home, whilst keeping warm and enjoying scenery.

We past the grounds of Belton House & on to Belvoir Castle, a mock castle built upon the site of an historic castle and stately home in Leicestershire, England. The castle is situated 6 miles west of the town of Grantham and 10 miles northeast of Melton Mowbray.

The Owner is David Manners, 11th by Duke of Rutland. Barbara, one of our residents quoted, "It’s absolutely gorgeous, I’ve never been anywhere with so many tall trees"

Caterpillar musical moments

This morning at Lancaster Grange our residents from Memory Lane enjoyed a morning activity, with the children from Caterpillar Music.  We all enjoyed singing & interacting with one another whilst having a fun Monday morning.

Quiz nights

Our quiz night in full swing this evening at Lancaster Grange. Our residents fully enjoyed a social gathering, with two themed quizzes along with Gin & fizz. Congratulations to tonight’s winning team.. Elsie, Barbara, Anne & Shelia

Sharing memories

Our residents of Lancaster Grange came together in our Sherwood Lounge for an afternoon of memories.  We set up an activity to bring along a treasured photo and share stories in a social environment.  Eric made us guess the price for his honeymoon in 1945 with his original invoice.  Keith told us about his learning to fly and his first flight. Betty shared with us the Queen visiting the WI at Olympia.

Royal Botanic Garden

Our homes enjoyed a wonderful virtual tour of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh with Community Engagement Manager, Charlotte Walker, and Botanic Cottage Operations Co-ordinator, Laura Gallagher.

The residents were thrilled to learn more about the history of the beautiful Garden, which is now a home to an impressive plant collection from around the world.

Charlotte and Laura also gave a demonstration of making fresh herbal tea and were happy to answer our questions.  The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all who joined.
