Activities at Iddenshall Hall Care Home

Activities here at Iddenshall Hall are an integral part of every day life for each of our residents. We strive to include as many of our residents as possible with the activities schedule. Our Schedule is released monthly and includes activities such as poetry afternoons, indoor games, Bingo, flower arranging, pamper days, quizzes, exercises, various musicians and entertainers, Pat Dog Visits, Music Therapy, discussion groups and trips out in our minibus to local places of interest and further afield to see the Blackpool Lights or to Knowsley Safari Park.

We are constantly asking the people who live in our home which events they would like to see taking place and we endeavor to fulfill these requests. Our aim is to provide a varied and packed schedule which allows for a vast array of skill bases and capabilities. We are in constant contact with local groups and businesses, the local Beaver Scout group are always happy to pay a visit to our home, helping with the garden or coming at Christmas to sing carols for us. We also have a small group of volunteers to help us, including pupils from our local 6th form College who visit once a week.

All the above helps ensure the lives of our Residents are fun and fulfilled.

Life at Iddenshall Hall Care Home

World Pasta Day

Residents of Iddenshall Hall enjoyed an arts and crafts session with a twist using different forms and shapes of pasta to create their own costumes on photos of themselves.  Everyone was happy with the results and to see themselves dressed in the pasta paintings.

World Pasta Day has been celebrated since 1995 when pasta producers from around the world joined forces to pay tribute to one of the most delicious and versatile foods known to man. Whether you prefer rigatoni, angel hair, or pappardelle, you’ll love this holiday, we did!

Halloween bingo

Residents enjoy the regular games of Bingo with varying themes throughout the month, this week they enjoyed Halloween prizes, with residents showing their friendly competitive sides it was all eyes down to see who call house first!

Birthday celebrations

Birthday celebrations were high on the agenda when resident, John celebrated his 90-years young. The birthday boy had not realized that it was his birthday today and when he knew it was his day, he felt a big emotion, a great joy and he smiled happily as he received his cards and gifts from family, friends and the staff.    His room was decorated with balloons, banners and it was a wonderful day!

An unfamiliar face!

If you should be visiting us you may be greeted my an unfamiliar face!

We recently enjoyed a creative arts and crafts session where we created our very own scarecrow as we continue our autumnal displays.  Residents and colleagues had a lot of laughs whilst stuffing our scarecrow with one resident remarking “I have not laughed so much for a long time stuffing those arms and legs”.

Creative writing

We had a great time joining journalist and novelist, Mike Gayle, for an intriguing virtual interview, during which he shared top tips for creative writing with our residents and read passages from his latest book, All the Lonely People.

We were thrilled to find out about Mike’s background, to understand what led him to become a writer and his creative process.

It was a lovely talk, enjoyed by all, especially by our keen writers at the home.

Residents enjoy virtual travels

We had a lovely time joining Paul Hawkins and Lisa Richards from Unilever for an exciting Virtual Cruise experience.

Our residents were welcomed with mocktails as Lisa and Paul took them on a magical journey to 3 mystery destinations, which were uncovered after a few clues.

Paul demonstrated how to create a few of the local traditional dishes, which our residents had the opportunity to try too.

The event evoked lots of great memories and it was truly enjoyed by all.
