Activities at Iddenshall Hall Care Home

Activities here at Iddenshall Hall are an integral part of every day life for each of our residents. We strive to include as many of our residents as possible with the activities schedule. Our Schedule is released monthly and includes activities such as poetry afternoons, indoor games, Bingo, flower arranging, pamper days, quizzes, exercises, various musicians and entertainers, Pat Dog Visits, Music Therapy, discussion groups and trips out in our minibus to local places of interest and further afield to see the Blackpool Lights or to Knowsley Safari Park.

We are constantly asking the people who live in our home which events they would like to see taking place and we endeavor to fulfill these requests. Our aim is to provide a varied and packed schedule which allows for a vast array of skill bases and capabilities. We are in constant contact with local groups and businesses, the local Beaver Scout group are always happy to pay a visit to our home, helping with the garden or coming at Christmas to sing carols for us. We also have a small group of volunteers to help us, including pupils from our local 6th form College who visit once a week.

All the above helps ensure the lives of our Residents are fun and fulfilled.

I have a Degree in Social Integration, a Certificate in Theatrical Psychology and a Music Therapy certificate. In the past I have worked for local authorities and in a cerebral palsy home.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Iddenshall Hall Care Home

A look into the future of robots

We enjoyed a wonderful virtual introduction to the world of robots with V&A Dundee Curator, Kirsty Hassard.

Kirsty talked us through the history of robots and their early beginnings, the presentation traced the fascination of all things wired and wonderful and considered what the future might hold for our relationship with a multitude of mechanical machines.

It was absolutely thrilling to learn what robots can do now and what they might be able to do in the future.

Games afternoon

Residents at Iddenshall enjoy a varied life enrichment programme to keep the mind, body and soul active. Each day there are popular group activities bringing everyone together along with individual Resident centred activities.

Residents enjoyed a fun filled afternoon with a friendly game of dominoes over a cup of tea and slice of homemade cake.

Blenheim Palace gardens

We had a lovely time exploring the amazing gardens of Blenheim Palace through a virtual talk, hosted by the Historian - Antonia Keaney.

We enjoyed a virtual look at how the gardens at Blenheim have developed over the past 300 years - from the formality of Henry Wise through to the ‘natural’ landscape created by Capability Brown and beyond.

Everyone was very impressed by the many jewels hidden within the 150 acres of beautiful gardens.

Football fever!

Here at Iddenshall Hall we have been cheering on our favourite teams throughout the Euros.

Our home had been decorated with flags, as we had been enjoying all the football action over the past three weeks.

After the brilliant performance of Gareth’s boys in the semi-final match against Denmark, we were all very excited to watch the final of the UEFA European Championship against Italy at Wembley Stadium.

We supported and cheered England’s players during the fantastic final and we all raised a glass of fizz to congratulate them, despite the result we are immensely proud of their achievement in reaching the final.

It was a lovely experience, enjoyed by all.

Virtual tour of Dartmoor Zoo

We were able to virtually dive into the impressive wildlife of Dartmoor Zoo.

We explored its grounds and learnt about the unique history of the park from the zoo’s educational team. The culmination of the tour was the live tiger training demonstration, which was wonderful to see and enjoyed by all.

Our residents were delighted to see amazing photos and short videos of the animals and take a peek inside their home.

A moment of relaxation

Residents at Iddenshall Hall embraced their competitive sides as they enjoyed a traditional games afternoon together, taking advantage of the warm summer weather they took to the homes beautiful garden for a game of croquet before sitting back to enjoy a refreshing cup of tea and a slice of homemade cake.
