Activities at Hurstwood View Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Hurstwood View Care Home

Hurstwood View Helps Make Residents Dream Come True

Resident, Betty, at Laurel Bank Care Home wanted to be able to attend her granddaughter’s wedding in Lewes, however Betty does not live local. So, staff at Hurstwood View and Laurel Bank worked together to make her wish a reality proving the old adage, it’s never too late.

Betty was invited to come and stay at Hurstwood View for the weekend so she could attend her granddaughter’s wedding. Betty was joined by Jamie the homes Deputy Manager, and Tim their Head of Maintenance on her trip to Hurstwood View.

Once Betty arrived there, the team had the pleasure in meeting Betty, and learning all about this event that was so important to her. The day of the wedding came, and our Care team spent time ensuring Betty was happy with her outfit, hair and makeup.

Betty was able to enjoy the special day and had a wonderful time. The team at Hurstwood View were delighted to be a part of making her dream come true, as they knew how much it meant to her and her family.

Jamaican Independence Day

The sounds of the Steel Pan Drums could be heard all around Hurstwood View yesterday afternoon, to celebrate Jamaican Independence Day.

Steel Pan Jim spent all afternoon playing his drums, to traditional music that we all recognised
Traditional Jamaican food was cooked in house, and enjoyed by everyone.

Jim interacted with the residents and had a break to enjoy the delicious spread on offer, along with Rum Cocktails.
Residents were joined by family and friends, who all agreed what a wonderful afternoon it was.

Teddy Bears Picnic

Families and the local community were invited to join us for a very special picnic at Hurstwood View Care Home. Children came with their favourite teddies to enter them into the competitions.

They had the chance to adopt a new Teddy from the Kim, the manager and her wonderful volunteers from Chestnut Tree House. We also had a special guest appear for the afternoon.

Residents loved spending time with the children and seeing them have so much fun. It really was a lovely afternoon and everyone really enjoyed themselves. We also managed to raise some money for such an important charity.
