Activities at Hurstwood View Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Lisa Everson

Activities Coordinator & Speak Up Champion

I’m Lisa, Activities Coordinator here at Hurstwood View.

I’ve been working at Hurstwood View in varying departments since 2017, shortly after the birth of my second child. With a strong background in Marketing, events, and community engagement - Activities is a great fit for me! I love arranging events and making a difference to our residents’ day.  I’ve never danced so much since working here, no day is ever the same, and we really do have so much fun!

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Hurstwood View Care Home

Tour de Barchester

We had a great evening at our sister home Lydfords Care Home - Barchester Healthcare, as we welcomed Tour de Barchester to #easthoathly.

Now in its second year #tourdebarchester took place from the 6-9th June. This 4 day challenge saw the team cycle 276 miles along the south coast, visiting 15 of our care homes on the way! Raising money for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation, there couldn’t be a better cause.

It was a lovely sunny evening with bbq, live music, and a great party atmosphere. Thanks Lydfords for your wonderful hospitality, our residents had a great time.

Earlier in the day we also got into the spirit by hosting our own cycling challenge here in the Cafe. We didn’t quite make 276 miles, but everyone in the team was keen to have a go!

Meaningful Moments at Hurstwood View

Since launching our Meaningful Moments initiative, we have created some truly wonderful experiences for our residents, their families and friends. We have taken residents home to see their horses, made delicious afternoon teas to share with loved ones, been out to the shops, enjoyed tea and cake in cafes, drinks at the pub, arranged a garden party for a resident to see all of her grandchildren at once, taken numerous trips to the seaside, attended an Elvis tribute evening, spent some time 1:1 gardening, enjoyed special food, numerous trips through the McDonalds drive through, and so much more!

This week, we spent some time 1:1 with a lady in her room, who loves flower arranging. She chose some flowers from our selection, and arranged them beautifully in a vase. Time was then spent giving her a manicure and hand massage.

If we haven’t been in touch already about your loved one, please do contact us with any ideas you may have, we’d love to do something special for them.
