Activities at Hurstwood View Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Lisa Everson

Activities Coordinator & Speak Up Champion

I’m Lisa, Activities Coordinator here at Hurstwood View.

I’ve been working at Hurstwood View in varying departments since 2017, shortly after the birth of my second child. With a strong background in Marketing, events, and community engagement - Activities is a great fit for me! I love arranging events and making a difference to our residents’ day.  I’ve never danced so much since working here, no day is ever the same, and we really do have so much fun!

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Chinese New Year!

We celebrated Chinese New Year with a private dining experience in our Autumn Lounge. Residents loved this chance to socialise and dine in our beautifully themed lounge.

With a delicious lunch made by our chefs, everyone enjoyed a taste of China. We love hosting these special experiences, a great opportunity for our residents to make new friends too!

Bob Marley's Birthday!

Had Bob Marley been alive today, yesterday would have been his 80th birthday! We celebrated on Memory Lane by listening to some of his greatest hits, including ‘One Love’ and ‘Who shot the sheriff’.

Our wonderful Chef, Suman, delivered tropical cocktails too, to get us in the spirit! Happy Birthday #BobMarley, may you live on through your wonderful music.

Valentine's Day Celebrations!

Valentine's well and truly hit Hurstwood View today. So much so, we didn’t even get time to take many photos!

Lunchtime saw us hosting a selection of residents and their partners in our Café. With beautiful table settings, the menu was also themed to include elements of red, the colour of love. This afternoon, we enjoyed a ballroom dancing performance from Mr & Mrs Happy Feet. We were delighted to see some of the audience participating too! We can’t believe how many of you were keen dancers in days gone by.

All of our residents were treated to a red rose, which brought many smiles.
Happy Valentine's Day to all of our residents, friends and followers.

Art Class

We hosted a lovely sip and paint afternoon in our café yesterday.

Residents loved sitting together, enjoying prosecco and creating their own masterpieces onto canvas.

We focussed on some beautiful tulips as inspiration, and were thrilled to see some fabulous outcomes. Thank you to everyone who joined us. We hope you enjoyed the afternoon as much as us.

Bowling

Today saw the next instalment of our #Barchester Bowling League, where we met our sister homes at Freedom Leisure Hailsham.

It was so lovely to see our activities counterparts, and for our bowling team to get some practice in!

Well done everyone, you all played fabulously!

New Years!

Elvis was in the building this afternoon, as we well and truly partied our way into the New Year.

Thank you, Andy T King for another fun-filled performance. We love how you interact with our residents, making sure everyone engages with the music.

You brought so many smiles and lots of laughs - which is what it’s all about!

Happy New Year to all you all, and thank you to everyone who has supported us this year.

Here’s to a happy and healthy 2025!
