Activities at Hunters Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters. I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity. I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Hunters Care Home
Duke of Gloucester Nursery
This week at Hunters we were treated with a visit from the Duke of Gloucester Nursery group who came along for a morning play as the theme of the event was the book Sharing a Shell. The residents had a lovely morning sitting, playing and reading to the children, afterwards everyone was rewarded with squash and biscuits. The event was a great success with a real sense of happiness and fun. The nursery will be visiting again in July.
Summer Fête
On the first Saturday of June, we hosted our annual Summer Fête & Classic Car show to raise money for Dementia UK. We had seen torrential rain and gale force winds, but luckily the rain held off for the afternoon, and everyone was able to join in with the fun without getting wet.
Attractions included Fairford Classic Car Club, Walks with Hawks, ukulele entertainment from George Reformby, a BBQ, ice creams, a raffle and stalls to suit all of the family.
The event was opened by the Mayor of Cirencester, Councillor Patrick Coleman, and £662 was raised for a very worthwhile cause close to the hearts of many.
Sports Day
We visited North Cerney Primary School to attend their annual sports day. The visit was part of our community engagement programme, with the residents enjoying the warm weather, a packed lunch and an afternoon of sporting fun. The children showed endless energy, taking part in running races and the good old traditional egg and spoon race. We were all worn out just watching them!
Alpaca Adventures
We had two rather unusual visitors in the form of the alpacas, Hedwig and Luna, as part of our community engagement programme.
Hunters always encourages, whereever possible, for visitors from the local community to visit our beautiful home even in the form of two cuddly alpacas, so Bridget from Cotswold Alpacas brought the pair along to brighten up the day for residents.
Some of the responses were fantastic, as the alpacas made their way around the home doing room visits and, when they came out of the lift, it caused quite a stir

Bibury Church Visit
As part of our community engagement programme, residents at Hunters were invited to an Easter service at Bibury Church. Everyone had a lovely time, with the children from the local primary school giving the reading and singing songs. To end a perfect afternoon, there was chocolate for everyone at the end of the service.
