Activities at Hugh Myddelton House Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

VE Day

Residents and team members at Hugh Myddelton marked the anniversary of VE Day in style by throwing a party to remember. Our home was specially decorated for the occasion with flags and bunting, and we were all dressed up in 1940s- style attire. Our residents took a two minute silence to honour the fallen; listened to wartime tunes, enjoyed a fantastic spread of sweet and savoury treats, reminisced about their memories of VE Day and watched clips of the celebrations that took place outside Buckingham Palace and all across London. It was a fabulous day, enjoyed by all. Flags were flying, hands were clapping and feet tapping.

Residents watched videos of parades and celebrations in Mexico, travelled virtually to different historic sites in Mexico, including the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza and Tulum, the beautiful coastline of Cancun and Mexico City itself. Residents and team members at Hugh Myddelton House spent a wonderful morning in the garden when Anna and her local group of children joined us for an Egg-citing Easter Hunt. We all were super delighted to see nursery children and our residents’ grandchildren and great-grandchildren running around and collecting Easter eggs. The sun was shining which made it even more glorious.
