"My experience of the Barchester Hugh Myddelton is very satisfactory. My sister is cared for, washed, changed, hair coloured. I can ask any carer to feed my sister/wash/change and it's done on the spot. Meals on the menu are fabulous, and fed on time. If I mention my sisters name to any carer/nurse they are aware of whome I am talking about instantly. Her room is kept spotless, and her bathroom clean + tidy."

"My Mum was at Hugh Myddelton for the last four weeks of her life. The care she received was wonderful - we could not have wished for anywhere better for her, or nicer, kinder, more loving people to care for her. She was treated with kindness, dignity and respect, and the care extended to our whole family. We were welcomed at any time of day or night, and the staff took a genuine interest in us as a family, not just seeing Mum as a patient. We cannot express strongly enough our gratitude to all the staff for making Mum's last few weeks of life as full of love and care as they possibly could have been. Thank you."

"My mum moved to Hugh Myddelton House Care Home at the end of February 2025 for palliative/end of life care. As a family we have been very impressed with the professional, and compassionate care she has received and the support and kindness we have all been shown. Thank you."

"Dad had reached the great age of 101 when after having spent a month in hospital, it was decided he needed 24-hour care, and what wonderful care he got. The staff at Barchester Hugh Myddelton House Care Centre are the most kind, caring and professional bunch of people. From the nursing staff to the cleaners. Ou minds were at peace knowing he was in the care of such dedicated staff. Dad has just passed away the dedication shown to him and us went above and beyond the call of duty."

"Carers and staff are dedicated to their job, unfortunately, the care home are unable to retain carers on a long term basis and continuity trying to employ staff to those who leave. Many carers leave after gaining experience and certain qualifications and apply to join employment in "national health service" for "better terms" of employment."

"The home is always clean and tidy. Mum receives excellent care from all the staff. She always looks clean, well cared for and the clothes are always colour coordinated. The laundry service is excellent. There are always plenty of staff so I know she is always safe and always treated with dignity which is so very important."

"The home cared for my father from start on 7th July 2015 until has passing on Friday 12th August 2016. He was 102 and 10 months! He was in a poorly state on his arrival but if it wasn't for the excellent care and nursing he wouldn't have survived so long. All the staff loved my father, he was cared for, nursed and clean! Such a worry when you are leaving a loved one with strangers but we had total peace of mind with leaving him at Barchester Hugh Myddelton House. We can't thank them enough."

"This purpose built modern care home is well furnished, bright and clean. The staff are very caring. The food is good. There are activities for those who are able to participate. Like most care homes/hospitals, they don't always have enough staff, so the nurses and carers are very busy."

"The nursing and care staff are professional in every way - kind, considerate and informative. My mother conveys positive feedback frequently. Although confined to her room mostly, we find that we are always made to feel welcome at all events. The overall standards of cleanliness and consistency of staff are a constant comfort to us."

"My sister resided at Barchester Hugh Myddelton House since 2004 to 2017. The staff there have looked after her very well. We were all like a family. The current manager is excellent, as are his staff, from nurses, carers, house-keeping, domestic, excellent chefs and warm, friendly and helpful reception and office staff."

"I was extremely concerned when I was told that my mother was too immobile to be able to live in her own home again. I felt that she would never be happy elsewhere. All this concern has gone since my Mum moved into Hugh Myddelton House Care Centre. She is eating again and laughing again, the nurses and carers treat her with concern, dignity and love, I could ask for no more. The home feels truly like a home, and although we are real newcomers, we have been welcomed with open arms."

"It is a huge relief for us to know that our father is "safe" 24/7 while we continue to work and care for our families. Staff are kind and caring and go the extra mile for dad and have become like family to him. The home has a community feel and although staff are extremely busy, they also have time for us. I have and will continue to recommend this home to friends and family."

"My husband who has Alzheimer's and is confused to a wheelchair is happy at the Hugh Myddelton House Care Centre. The staff are very caring and the food is excellent. Occasionally things get lost e.g pyjamas, hearing aids, but overall I am very satisfied with the care his is getting and I would and have recommended the home."

"All the staff were welcoming and friendly. This was my first visit and it was encouraging. There seems to be a lot of activities and I would hope that everybody who is able to, participates. The only concern was the occasional and intense smell of cigarette smoke in the corridor, immediately next to his room."

"First impressions very good. The staff were very helpful and very well presented. The home has a very nice look and homely feel to it. It gives me a feeling of security and confidence to leave my mother in the capable hands of the home."

"Overall the standard is good to very good, with a manager who works hard to maintain a high standard, as do the majority of the care staff who work very hard to complete the daily tasks. The dementia floor struggles to feed 19 residents with 4 care staff and 1 nurse and rely on help from other floors and managers. One to one for two residents is now helping the situation. The auxiliary staff are also helpful."

"The home has been fantastic from our first point of contact. The manager had great empathy and understanding, immiediately making my Mother happy with the decision. On arrival, the senior nurse was very quickly ontop of my Father's requirements, despite his late arrival after a hospital discharge. Subsequently, another member of staff has been fantastic and provided a high degree of confidence within the medical nursing care. All carers genuinely live up to their name - Happy, professional and warm-natured. The home is immaculate and the quality of care is exactly as we wished."

"My mother has been in this home since 2004, she has received overall good care. I find the staff are friendly and always welcoming. My mother seems happy here. The rooms are clean and the food seems ok. My mother prefers mostly one to one activities and the activity co-coordinator really tries to meet her needs as she is still young and likes to do things that maybe the older generation doesn’t. Overall the home is good."

"Since my mother entered care I have seen care quality delivery of the poorest standards at one care home; good delivery with occasional catastrophic negligence at another, and a standard way below those at Hugh Myddelton at her last nursing home. She has now been at Hugh Myddelton for as long as her combined time at 3 previous establishments and her care quality remains exemplary in comparison, where she is content in spite of her slowly advancing dementia."

"My mother has been resident at Hugh Myddelton House Care Centre for almost three months. The staff are caring and attentive and the quality of nursing care is good. My mother is kept clean and the home is airy and has a garden which gives my mother access to the outdoors in warmer weather which she enjoys. Her room is pleasant and the quality of her meals are good and she has regained weight that had been previously lost."

"I have found my stay comfortable and friendly. The staff could not be more helpful. It would be bettered only by having more staff on duty each day. Medical care is 1st class. Hospitals and specialists are called in to assist when they feel the need the food is very good and varied, allowing for diets. Requests are met with if nothing on the menu is liked."
