Activities at Hugh Myddelton House Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Hello my name is Gunel and I joined Barchester team 2020 promoted to Activities Coordinator in November 2022

I love spending time with the residents and getting to know them on personal level, this helps me to support residents to participate and enjoy all the activities in the home. I am really enjoying my role as an Activities Co-Ordinator at Hugh Myddelton House and look forward to meeting you soon.

Local Children sing carols at Hugh Myddelton

Staff and residents at Hugh Myddelton got in the Christmas spirit by inviting the nursery children led by Anna Mardapittas to come and sing Christmas Carols.
We are so lucky to have such a fantastic community here. Singing Christmas Carols is such a lovely tradition and we are so glad we could invite our little friends and neighbours to sing our favourite songs together.
Also, a BIG THANK YOU to Anna & children for the lovely Christmas hamper they brought for residents and staff!

Reindeer Visit

Staff and residents at Hugh Myddelton House had a wonderful time learning about the very friendly reindeers from “Performing Pets”, finding out about their habits and what they like to eat. Several of the residents got to feed the reindeers some of their favourite treats. Reindeers are natural foragers and would normally eat moss, ferns, grasses and leaves so a carrot is a rare treat for reindeer in the wild.
