Activities at Hugh Myddelton House Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

International Flower Day at Hugh Myddelton

Residents and team members at Hugh Myddelton House celebrated International Flower Day by taking part in flower-based activities throughout the day, including a flower arranging competition, reminiscing about their gardens and flowers in the home’s garden topped off with a flower quiz, which everyone really enjoyed!

Pet Therapy at Hugh Myddelton

Everyone had a wonderful day with some very important visitors from Performing Pets. The Beautiful Toy Poodle called Peggy and French Bulldogs, Reggie and Ronnie, were a huge hit with both residents and team members at Hugh Myddelton House. We can't wait for them to visit again!

Elvis Presley's Birthday Celebrations

Lots of residents at Hugh Myddelton are big Elvis Presley fans and love his music. To honour the undisputed King of Rock & Roll and to mark what would have been Elvis Presley’s 86th birthday on 8th January, we’ve had a fantastic day listening to all his hits, finding out about his early life and watching old Elvis movies. He was such an incredible talent.

Hark the Herald Angels sing!

Staff and residents at Hugh Myddelton got in the Christmas spirit by inviting the nursery children led by Anna Mardapittas to come and sing Christmas Carols in the home’s garden. We are so lucky to have such a fantastic community here. Singing Christmas Carols is such a lovely tradition and we are so glad we could invite our little friends and neighbours to sing our favourite songs together.

Thank you very much and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

A Magical Reindeer visit

On 8th of December, there was huge excitement at Hugh Myddelton House as one of Santa's reindeers came by to visit the residents.

Staff and residents had a wonderful time learning about the very friendly reindeer from Performing Pets, finding out from Kelly & Des about his habits and what he likes to eat. Several of the residents got to feed the reindeer some of his favourite treats.

John, resident at Hugh Myddelton said: "It was so lovely to see the reindeer and get to stroke him, he was absolutely beautiful. We all loved feeding him carrots, which he devoured! I hope we haven't made him too fat to take off on Christmas Eve!"

Best of Christmas

Residents and team members at Hugh Myddelton House had a wonderful time taking part in a musical show with all the best bits of Christmas presented by Tickled Pink Production. Everyone enjoyed singing to White Christmas, Chestnuts Roasting and The Twelve days of Christmas to name just a few of the songs. Beautiful costumes and a light hearted romantic comedy story got everyone in the spirit of Christmas.
