Activities at Hilton Park Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jenelyn Szabo

Activity Coordinator

Hello, my name is Jenelyn and I am the head of activities here at Hilton Park.

Having started my Barchester journey as a carer back in 2020, I have gained good experience of working closely with our residents. After being a carer I then moved onto the Activities team and thoroughly enjoyed working as an Activities co-ordinator, which led to my promotion to Activity Lead.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing the smiles on our residents faces.

Music in the Air Today!

Music in the Air Today!

A huge thank you to Cloud Nine, the local village choir led by Julie Bristow, for bringing music, joy, and wonderful energy to the community with a fantastic performance. The residents thoroughly enjoyed every moment!

The choir also took the time to visit residents in their bedrooms, sharing songs, smiles, and special moments with those unable to attend the performance.

Music is a wonderful way to bring people together, strengthen community connections, and create meaningful moments across generations. A truly uplifting visit filled with warmth, friendship, and community spirit!

Celebrating National Carer's Week

Celebrating National Carer's Week

National Carers Week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and recognise the incredible carers whose dedication, compassion, and commitment make a meaningful difference every single day.

To mark this special occasion, the team came together to enjoy some well-deserved treats, delicious food, and a moment of appreciation for the amazing work carried out throughout the year. While this week highlights the vital role of carers, it is also a reminder that exceptional care is achieved through teamwork and the contribution of every member of the team.

Each team member plays an important part in creating a warm, supportive, and welcoming environment for residents. Their kindness, professionalism, and commitment help make the home a special place where residents feel valued, respected, and cared for.
A heartfelt thank you goes to all carers and team members for their continued hard work, compassion, and dedication. The difference they make is truly appreciated.

Wimbledon Spirit at Hilton Park!

Wimbledon Spirit at Hilton Park!

The Wimbledon spirit was brought to life at Hilton Park with a fun-filled day of activities, laughter, and friendly competition.

Despite a little breeze, the weather did not stop residents from enjoying a Wimbledon-inspired tournament. The morning began with an exciting game of balloon volleyball, and when the wind picked up, the activity was adapted with a soft ball, so the fun could continue.

The tournament was filled with smiles, encouragement, and wonderful teamwork, creating plenty of memorable moments for everyone involved. After the excitement of the games, residents relaxed in the sunshine, enjoying refreshing drinks and delicious fresh strawberries in the garden.

It was a fantastic way to celebrate the start of Wimbledon, bringing together friendship, fun, and the joy of summer days spent outdoors.

And the winner is!!

On Saturday 5th September Hilton Park hosted its first Dog Show which turned out to be a huge success.

It was so heart warming to see some of our residents enjoy the show and spend time with our wonderful four-legged friends; some new guests as well as familiar companions.
Following a strut down the runway and a quick bio of all entries, congratulations to all our winners as well as the runners up on the afternoon:
🥇 Max: Most Handsome Dog
🥇 Sadie: Prettiest Bitch
🥇 Louie: Best Tricks
Events like these also don't always happen without the help and support of local champions; thank you to Sandra from Tesco Milton who donated and provided us with prizes certificates for every participant!
The week building up to the event also us be able to invite over to join us Adrian & Ines from Cedar Court veterinary clinic who this week opened their brand new practice here in Bottisham; they shared a little round the vision as well as offered our guests a chance to register or access any questions around the welfare and wellbeing of their animals, we truly are grateful for them being part of the day.

Resident John had a fantastic time watching the England vs Argentina match at the village pub. Although the result was not in England’s favour, the excitement before kick-off, lively atmosphere, and wonderful community spirit made it a memorable evening.

The warm welcome from everyone at the pub, especially Keiran, added to the experience, creating a friendly and enjoyable match-day atmosphere.

While England may not have secured the hoped-for result, John enjoyed a wonderful outing filled with laughter, excitement, and great memories.

Wonderful Ladies' Day with Elvis in the garden

Wonderful Ladies' Day with Elvis in the garden

The home was filled with joy, laughter, and celebration as residents, families, and visitors came together for a memorable Ladies’ Day event, following England’s fantastic football win.

With the beautiful summer weather providing the perfect backdrop, everyone enjoyed a relaxing afternoon in the garden, sitting beneath the shade of the magnificent walnut trees while sharing refreshments and enjoying fantastic live entertainment from Elvis.

The garden came alive with music and celebration as residents sang along, waved flags, and embraced the wonderful atmosphere. The afternoon was made even more special by the elegant ladies who looked stunning in their colourful fascinators, adding a touch of glamour and style to the occasion.

It was a truly delightful day filled with music, friendship, laughter, and cherished moments shared with family, friends, and the wider community.

Hawaiian-themed BBQ

Hawaiian-themed BBQ

Rain or shine, the Aloha spirit was alive and well today!

We hosted a vibrant Hawaiian-themed BBQ, and not even the British weather could dampen our spirits. It was wonderful to see our residents joined by their families, as well as some friendly faces from our sister homes, Oaklands Care Home - Barchester Healthcare and Melbourn Springs Care Home - Barchester Healthcare.

Between the delicious BBQ, tropical music, and plenty of dancing, everyone had a fantastic time. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so special!

A huge well done and thank you to all our staff, who worked incredibly hard to make the event such a success.

Little piece of home for someone goes a long way

Little piece of home for someone goes a long way

The team surprised Archbold with a special celebration of his Zimbabwean heritage last week— a beautiful moment filled with joy, laughter, warmth and a few happy tears.
Jenny our activities lead reached out to Archbold’s son to learn more about him and his background, and set up the projector to play some of his favourite Zimbabwean songs and dances.
A fellow team member also brought back traditional dresses from their holiday, which Jenny and Monika were able to wear for the celebration.
To make the day even more special, Louis from our housekeeping team, who shares the same native dialect as Archbold, joined him for a lovely conversation in their home language.
Everyone who made this effort to make Archbold feel so special especially Jenny, Monika, Stephanie and Louis; The kindness, time and thoughtfulness created a truly meaningful moment.
Seeing Archbold’s smile made every bit of effort worthwhile. Moments like this remind us why we love what we do — bringing joy, connection and a little piece of home
Happy 86th Birthday, Dennis!

A Wonderful Day Out at Our Local Community Event

A Wonderful Day Out at Our Local Community Event

Our residents enjoyed a fantastic day out in the local community, filled with laughter, connection, and memorable moments. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make the event such a special occasion.

A highlight of the day was watching the vibrant Morris dancers perform. Our residents were delighted to meet the dancers afterwards, enjoying the opportunity to chat, learn more about this wonderful tradition, and share in the community spirit.

We also enjoyed exploring the beautiful church, spending time with friends, and making new connections – including a lovely furry friend who helped make the day even more memorable.

The day was rounded off perfectly with delicious burgers and hot dogs, along with warm cups of tea and coffee, as everyone came together to support and celebrate our local community.

It was a truly wonderful occasion, and we look forward to creating more special memories together.

A sweet celebration for Diana

A sweet celebration for Diana

A baby is a beautiful blessing that brings love, joy, and countless precious moments to a family’s journey. Recently, a special surprise baby shower was held to celebrate Diana and the exciting arrival of her newest little blessing.

The occasion was filled with smiles, laughter, warmth, and heartfelt wishes as colleagues and friends came together to share in this wonderful milestone. It was a lovely opportunity to create special memories and show Diana how much she is appreciated and cared for.

Wishing Diana and her growing family every happiness, love, and joy as they prepare to welcome their little one. May this new chapter be filled with many precious moments and unforgettable memories.

A Journey Through Time: Today’s Virtual Reality Therapy

A Journey Through Time: Today’s Virtual Reality Therapy

It’s been a truly moving day as we hosted both group and individual Virtual Reality Therapy sessions.

Technology has given us a wonderful gift: the ability to "travel" without leaving the room. Today, our residents used VR headsets to revisit cherished places from their past, sparking beautiful memories and heartfelt conversations.

Seeing the smiles and hearing the stories as they "walked" through familiar streets or sat beside favourite landscapes from years gone by has been an incredible experience for everyone involved. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, reminding us that while time moves forward, the places we love remain with us forever.

Thank you to everyone who took part in today’s sessions and shared their memories with us. We are delighted to see how Virtual Reality Therapy continues to bring joy, connection, and meaningful experiences to our residents.
