Activities at Hilton Park Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jenelyn Szabo

Activity Coordinator

Hello, my name is Jenelyn and I am the head of activities here at Hilton Park.

Having started my Barchester journey as a carer back in 2019, I have gained good experience of working closely with our residents. After being a carer I then moved onto the Activities team and thoroughly enjoyed working as an Activities co-ordinator, which led to my promotion to Activity Lead.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing the smiles on our residents faces.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Starting Christmas Early

Yesterday evening we enjoyed our first 'Polar Express' minibus trip to see the locally famous Christmas House in nearby Soham. Some feel it is a little bit early to get into the festive spirit, but with limited seats on the minibus, we decided to start early so that all of our residents have a chance to see the magical light display. Bill, John and Dennis were thrilled to be involved and all three had a fantastic evening as we laughed, shared stories and spread a bit of Christmas cheer, singing some of our favourite Christmas songs.

Fireworks Night at Hilton Park

Residents, families, and friends gathered for a magical Guy Fawkes night, with breath-taking fireworks lighting up the sky. Everyone watched in awe as colours burst overhead, then enjoyed live music by Kirsty in the Atrium, where families, residents, and visitors sang along, danced, and enjoyed hot dogs.A warm thank you to everyone who made the evening unforgettable, especially our maintenance team for their hard work in bringing the night to life.

National celebrations and family-friendly events are just some of the ways that we ensure the residents at Hilton Park remain connected with their loved ones and the wider community.

Happy Birthday Dorothy

Celebrating Dorothy's 105th Birthday!!
Yesterday, we had the great pleasure of celebrating another incredible milestone for our oldest veteran, Dorothy, at Bottisham Airfield Museum . The event was attended by hundreds of visitors, including Dorothy’s lovely family, who joined our activities team in decorating the venue. We were also supported by the wonderful volunteers from Bottisham Airfield Museum.
Dorothy was overjoyed to receive 113 birthday cards, including a special one from His Majesty, King Charles. She was in high spirits, singing along and delighted to have her family gathered around her. It truly was a magical celebration from start to finish, and all the hard work we put into it was well worth the effort.
We cannot thank everyone enough for making this day so special. A heartfelt thanks to Jason Webb, who kindly offered the use of the hangar for Dorothy’s celebration, giving her the honour she so richly deserves. We are also deeply grateful for the presence of the Deputy Lieutenant for Cambridgeshire, the Bottisham Village College Choir, Tesco Community, the WI ladies, All Saints Church Newmarket, the Vintage Car owners, residents and families and, of course, our Hilton Park team, who worked tirelessly, going above and beyond to ensure the success of the event.
It was a truly unforgettable day, and we are overwhelmed with gratitude for all the support and kindness shown. We simply cannot thank you all enough for making Dorothy’s 105th birthday such an amazing and memorable occasion.

A day out in Royston

Yesterday, our residents enjoyed a delightful outing to Bury Lane Fun Barn in Royston. They had a wonderful time exploring the farm and admiring the seasonal decorations. They even brought back some beautiful flowers to brighten our home. It was such a treat to venture a little further afield than usual, discovering new places and taking in the lovely scenery. The day ended perfectly with warm drinks and a lovely chat with Nadine, a former staff member, who surprised our residents by meeting them at the farm. It was so nice to catch up with her, and the residents truly appreciated the moment.

Inter-generational fun at Hilton Park

Another wonderful session with Boogie Babes Newmarket Boogie was held at our home, and the residents thoroughly enjoyed watching the children. They even joined in with the singing, danced in their chairs, and helped hold the parachute for the little ones. A heartfelt thank you to Boogie Babes Newmarket and all the lovely parents for coming along. We look forward to seeing you again on 4th November.

Celebrating Mental Health Day

Celebrating Mental Health Day at Hilton Park Yesterday, we were delighted to welcome students from Bottisham Village College for a special visit. In the morning, the students engaged in one-on-one conversations with our residents, learning about their fascinating life stories and sharing some precious moments. Later in the afternoon, another group of students joined us for a fun quiz, helping our residents and brightening their day! Special thanks to their teacher, Mr Chris, for leading the general knowledge quiz, bringing together both young and old generations. Events like these remind us of the importance of connection and shared experiences for mental well-being, across all ages.  Thank you to everyone who made the day so special
