Activities at Hilton Park Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jenelyn Szabo

Activity Coordinator

Hello, my name is Jenelyn and I am the head of activities here at Hilton Park.

Having started my Barchester journey as a carer back in 2019, I have gained good experience of working closely with our residents. After being a carer I then moved onto the Activities team and thoroughly enjoyed working as an Activities co-ordinator, which led to my promotion to Activity Lead.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing the smiles on our residents faces.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Coffee with the WI

Yesterday, in collaboration with the WI, we hosted a delightful coffee morning at Hilton Park, and it was a truly special event! Our residents came together to enjoy warm company, delicious treats, and the excitement of free raffle tickets - many of which led to some fantastic prizes. The atmosphere was made even more vibrant thanks to Zack FM Radio. The ever-cheerful DJ Juice and Mel joined us, playing favorite songs requested by our lovely ladies and gentlemen, filling the room with music and joy. It was a heartwarming morning full of laughter, conversations, and community spirit. A huge thank you to the WI for partnering with us and to everyone who joined in to make it such a memorable occasion at Hilton Park!

Diana's visit to Church

Yesterday was a truly special community coffee morning at All Saints Church, as we were joined by one of our cherished residents, Diana. Born in Newmarket, Diana was married at All Saints Church, and her children were christened there too. When Diana heard about the coffee morning, she was overjoyed and eager to make the trip, excited to revisit the church where she was married and which she attended before moving to Hilton Park. Reverend Robert organised a beautiful short service for us, and communion was offered to those who wished to take part. We feel incredibly fortunate to have strong connections with both All Saints and Holy Trinity churches. Last week, Reverend Max from Bottisham Church kindly visited to offer individual communion, and yesterday’s gathering at All Saints was another moment to treasure. A heartfelt thank you to Reverend Robert and all the volunteers who made the day so memorable. Your support means the world to us.

Greta's wish comes true

Today, we had the pleasure of fulfilling another special wish from one of our residents, Greta. Greta wished for a high tea afternoon at The Carriages of Cambridge, and today her dream became a reality. She was joined by fellow resident Pat, who was taking part in her first trip with us, and our Activities Team, who went the extra mile by dressing up themselves and the residents in a charming vintage theme to match the occasion.Greta and Pat enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea in a calm and elegant atmosphere, followed by a lovely look around the venue. It was a truly wonderful experience for everyone involved, and we returned home with big smiles all around. If your loved one is staying with us and has a special wish, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’ll do our very best to make it come true!

Mickey sings the Blues

We ended our day yesterday in a beautiful and calming atmosphere with Mickey Fordola, where our residents sang along with him and enjoyed lovely conversations afterwards.

Music plays such an important part of our everyday lives and the residents absolutely love it when they get to see live performances at the home.

Fresh Air Therapy

Residents have been enjoying a breath of fresh air in the garden, soaking up the sunshine while admiring the frosty surroundings. Anne mentioned that it’s lovely to get outside, even if just for a few minutes, despite the cold. Earlier in the day, the activities team visited individual rooms to provide comfort to some residents and engage them in reminiscence and sensory activities.

A grand day out

Yesterday was a wonderful day with not one, but three lovely trips! One of our residents requested a quick visit to Tesco, and we were happy to make it happen. Diana had a lovely time and returned home smiling. Later, three of our ladies enjoyed a trip to the Garden Centre, exploring the winter items and Christmas decorations on sale. Morwenna treated herself to a beautiful diary, and we finished the outing with a cosy cuppa and lots of laughter. Lily kept us smiling with her cheerful chatter and funny comments. It was such a joy to see everyone so happy
