Activities at Hilton Park Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jenelyn Szabo

Activity Coordinator

Hello, my name is Jenelyn and I am the head of activities here at Hilton Park.

Having started my Barchester journey as a carer back in 2019, I have gained good experience of working closely with our residents. After being a carer I then moved onto the Activities team and thoroughly enjoyed working as an Activities co-ordinator, which led to my promotion to Activity Lead.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing the smiles on our residents faces.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Dennis' Royal Return to King's College

A lovely visit today to King's College, Cambridge, where one of our residents, Dennis , used to work for over a decade. As part of our care home's "fulfilling residents' wishes" initiative, Dennis's wish came true today, accompanied by his loving wife, Beverly. Dennis met a few familiar faces and enjoyed a good chat. He worked as a porter at Trinity Hall and also at King's College, as well as a visitor guide. This gave him the privilege of being a University Constable, carrying a linstock on ceremonial occasions. He loved working at the University, and today's visit brought back many happy memories.   Thank you so much to everyone involved, and to Beverly for making Dennis feel extra special today.

Joyce's maiden roadtrip

This week, we went on another trip to Scotsdales Garden Centre, as requested by our two lovely residents, Iris and Joyce. A visit to Scotsdales always brightens our residents' day, especially Iris, as it's her favourite place to shop.

It was also Joyce's first time travelling on the minibus, making the trip even more special for her. Monica enjoyed browsing the displays, and they all had a wonderful time sharing stories over hot drinks and cakes.

The Great Outdoors

Had a lovely morning stroll with our ladies and gentlemen, enjoying the sunshine, fresh air, and the cheerful songs of the birds. We admired the delicate snowdrops in bloom and were delighted to meet Tigger, the friendly and fluffy garden cat.

Now, everyone is back inside, feeling refreshed and uplifted!!

Chinese New Year celebrations

Spreading Smiles for Chinese New Year!! Our beautifully handcrafted Chinese dragon has been making its way through the home, visiting residents in their rooms, bringing laughter, and sharing joy. Each resident was treated to a fortune cookie, eagerly discovering what the year ahead might hold for them. It was a delight to watch our dragon dance, with everyone guessing who might be hiding beneath the costume! A huge well done to our wonderful activities team - you always find the most heartwarming ways to brighten our residents' days.

Fun for all the ages

What a beautiful morning it was here at Hilton Park with Boogie Babes. It was our first session of the year, and the little ones were brimming with energy as they sang, danced, and helped Lu distribute items to our residents. Watching their joy and enthusiasm brought such warmth to everyone’s hearts, and our residents thoroughly enjoyed seeing them in action. We ended the session with refreshments and some lovely conversations – a perfect way to round off a truly wonderful morning. Thank you so much to everyone who joined us today. We can’t wait to see you all again for the next session on the 10th of February!
