Activities at Hilton Park Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jenelyn Szabo

Activity Coordinator

Hello, my name is Jenelyn and I am the head of activities here at Hilton Park.

Having started my Barchester journey as a carer back in 2019, I have gained good experience of working closely with our residents. After being a carer I then moved onto the Activities team and thoroughly enjoyed working as an Activities co-ordinator, which led to my promotion to Activity Lead.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing the smiles on our residents faces.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

A day to remember for Bill

We had a truly special trip to Ely today with one of our residents, Bill. He was overjoyed to be invited to his great-granddaughter Delilah’s first birthday party. Dressed in his Santa outfit to surprise everyone, Bill was bursting with excitement and kept checking the time throughout the journey to the venue. When we arrived, Bill received the warmest of welcomes. It was wonderful to see him enjoying refreshments with friends and family, and he was especially delighted to spend a few moments with little Delilah on her big day alongside her parents. Bill said, “Thank you so much for making this possible. It’s been such a special day for me to see everyone and celebrate with Delilah.”  Thank you, Lily and Jenny, for looking after Bill today.

Showing our appreciation

Our General Manager, Geanina, recently had the pleasure of visiting our local community to deliver some Christmas treats to Bottisham Surgery and the local pharmacy as a small token of our appreciation. We are incredibly grateful for the close partnership we’ve shared, and for the outstanding care you provide to our residents. To all the staff at Bottisham Surgery and the local pharmacy, we can't thank you enough. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas from everyone here at Hilton Park.

Back to School

Another fantastic performance from the pupils at Bottisham Village College this year! "Lily said it was wonderful, such talented students, their parents must be so proud."  A huge thank you to BVC and especially to Chris Darling for inviting us again – it’s always a pleasure to be part of this special event. Well done to all the students and, of course, their dedicated teachers for an amazing show.  From all of us at Hilton Park, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We’re looking forward to working with you all again next year!

A trip to the Abbey

We decided to make the most of the last bit of sunshine by taking a trip to one of our favourite places, Anglesey Abbey and Gardens . We all had a great time admiring the beautiful surroundings, and fascinating details of the Abbey. One of our residents Anne, was in her element having formerly volunteered there, and was full of stories which sparked interesting conversations between us all. Thank you to the wonderful National Trust staff and volunteers, who were full of knowledge, and gave us a detailed tour of the beautiful house and gardens. We look forward to our next visit in the new year ahead!

Christmas Carols for all the ages

We had a delightful afternoon with the pupils from St Faith's School in Cambridge, who visited to perform Christmas carols for our wonderful residents. The pupils were incredibly friendly, taking the time to get to know the residents and sharing their favourite songs. They also brought along beautifully handmade Christmas cards, crafted by the creative St Faith’s pupils, which will be given to the residents soon.  We also sang "Happy Birthday" to one of the pupils, Matilda, who is celebrating her birthday today. From all of us here at Hilton Park, happy birthday once again, Matilda!  A heartfelt thank you to St Faith’s School in Cambridge for bringing so much joy with your carols and kindness. Special thanks go to Kate, one of our resident’s daughters, for helping to connect and unite our two communities.  We look forward to welcoming you back next year!

Christmas Fayre 2024

Today, we successfully held our annual Christmas Fête, and what a joyous occasion it was! We are so fortunate to have the support of our local community, the families of our residents, our dedicated stallholders, and one of our favourite entertainers, The Banjo Man. The day ended on a high note with a beautiful performance of Christmas carols by the United Christian Church Choir, as everyone enjoyed mulled wine and mince pies. A special highlight was when our very own Father Christmas, Bill - one of our cherished residents- brought festive cheer to all with the help of his wonderful team. Everyone was so delighted and overwhelmed to see him in his festive role. His day became even more magical with a surprise visit from his great-granddaughter. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this event so memorable!
