Activities at Hilton Park Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jenelyn Szabo

Activity Coordinator

Hello, my name is Jenelyn and I am the head of activities here at Hilton Park.

Having started my Barchester journey as a carer back in 2019, I have gained good experience of working closely with our residents. After being a carer I then moved onto the Activities team and thoroughly enjoyed working as an Activities co-ordinator, which led to my promotion to Activity Lead.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing the smiles on our residents faces.

Life at Hilton Park Care Home

Get Fit with Hilton Park!

We have been keeping fit, supple and strong this month with some NHS arm, neck and leg exercises, the residents like to keep moving and it's always fun and social too!

We have been so lucky to have lots of programmes and routines sent to us over the pandemic so we always make sure we use them to keep ourselves moving!

Google Maps and YouTube Interactive Session

Activities Coordinator, Sarah at Hilton Park Care Home in Bottisham had a great activity idea inviting our residents to an interactive sessions with Google Maps and YouTube. They spent a good hour finding out where they all use to live and being able to see it on Google Earth!

They went through all of their old towns, villages, old schools, old sports pitches and much more. They also used YouTube to get up all of the songs and singers they loved growing up! We know we can find almost anything on YouTube. Our residents are already looking forward to the next session!

The Singing Gardener visits Hilton Park

We had the fantastic 'Singing Gardener' performing for us last week, she sang an array of classics from 'White Cliffs of Dover', to 'We Will Meet Again', 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' and some show tunes too, which the residents very much enjoyed.

Many thanks Amanda we hope to See you again soon!

Sax Player, Liz Monroe visits Hilton Park

Liz Monroe is a local Saxophone player in Cambridgeshire. She visited Hilton Park last week to perform for their residents. They loved it!

She plays a wide range of music and is always sure to add in our residents favourites. Live music is great for the soul!

Hairdressing Is Back On The Agenda

It's been so lovely to have our hairdresser back, she has had a lot of haircuts to get through this past two weeks! Short back and sides? 1980's mullet? Blue rinse?

Here is a resident enjoying a trim, notice our resident salon pooch serenely laying under the counter, with a fabulous hair cut herself!

It's great to have our onsite Salon back open where residents have booked in for a much-needed trim and styling.

WildScience Animal Visit

We had a great time yesterday with our friends from WildScience!

WildScience came in for a very exciting, fun, educational, and wild experience. The residents absolutely loved it and we cannot wait to book another visit. Animals and nature really do bring a lot of joy to the home.

We had guinea pigs, hamsters, frogs, Oscar the snake, giant snails and a scorpion! (Which we had a look at but left in his box!).

WildSci take great care in looking after their animals, reptiles and insects and we highly recommend them.

When asked what animals residents would like to see in the home in future, our favourite answer was ‘an elephant’. Let’s see what we can do!
