Activities at Hilton Park Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jenelyn Szabo

Activity Coordinator

Hello, my name is Jenelyn and I am the head of activities here at Hilton Park.

Having started my Barchester journey as a carer back in 2019, I have gained good experience of working closely with our residents. After being a carer I then moved onto the Activities team and thoroughly enjoyed working as an Activities co-ordinator, which led to my promotion to Activity Lead.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing the smiles on our residents faces.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Steve's wish come true

We had a very special day yesterday as we made Steve's wish to watch the football team that he used to manage, happen.

For a number of years, Steve was the manager of Mildenhall Town Football Club and we were delighted to have the opportunity to take Steve and his wife, Karen, to watch the August Bank Holiday local derby against another one of the football clubs that Steve was associated with, Cambridge City Football Club.

Steve was greeted by officials of both clubs and saw several of his old acquaintances who were delighted to see him and Karen for the first time in many years and enjoyed reminiscing of their time spent together on and off the pitch.

It was a pleasure to be part of this and we are very proud that we were able to grant Steve his wish. Many thanks to both clubs for making Steve feel so welcome.

Notting Hill Carnival

What a fantastic day!

Despite the weather not being in our favour, the carnival celebrations continued with high spirits. We spent a delightful afternoon singing and dancing with the wonderful Kirsty and enjoyed a spread of delicious food, thanks to our brilliant hospitality team.

The celebrations were truly special, with residents, families, and staff all having a wonderful time. A huge thank you to everyone involved, especially Kirsty, for making our afternoon so enjoyable.

Happy Birthday Monica

We celebrated our lovely resident Monica's birthday with joy, laughter, and a touch of creativity. Monica shared her beautiful cake with everyone, and we all sang together to make her feel extra special.

After our flower arranging session, it was a beautiful day filled with shared stories, smiles, and precious moments.

Happy birthday once again, Monica.

World Photography Day

World Photography Day

To celebrate this special occasion, our activities team spent the day with our residents, going through their treasured photographs. World Photography Day provided a wonderful opportunity for everyone to reflect on past experiences, relive fond memories, and share joyful moments together.

One of our residents, Bill, was particularly moved as he looked through his photos in his room. He proudly shared them with Jenny from the activities team, reminiscing about his 50 years with the Wicken Coronation Brass Band and his time with the Somersham Town Band. Bill's stories really brought the past to life, filling the room with smiles and laughter.

The day truly highlighted the joy and connection that come from looking through old photos, making it a memorable occasion for all.
