Activities at Hilton Park Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jenelyn Szabo
Activity Coordinator
Hello, my name is Jenelyn and I am the head of activities here at Hilton Park.
Having started my Barchester journey as a carer back in 2019, I have gained good experience of working closely with our residents. After being a carer I then moved onto the Activities team and thoroughly enjoyed working as an Activities co-ordinator, which led to my promotion to Activity Lead.
Nothing makes me happier than seeing the smiles on our residents faces.
Celebrating life at Hilton Park Care Home
A relaxing afternoon in the garden
Here at Hilton Park, we’re so fortunate to enjoy such beautiful grounds and take every opportunity to spend some precious time out in the open.
Today was one of those special days—our residents soaked up the sunshine, enjoyed a refreshing breath of fresh air, and took a gentle stroll around the garden.
We were even joined by some of the local cats which made the afternoon even more special for the residents.
A special birthday surprise for John
Happy Birthday to our wonderful Resident Ambassador, John!
A lifelong Formula 1 fan, John received the ultimate birthday surprise — a signed photo from none other than Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz, star drivers from Williams Racing!
Even more special, the photo features Alex Albon holding a picture of John himself, complete with an autograph — a truly unforgettable moment!
John’s passion for motorsport runs deep. In his younger years, he loved attending races trackside at Snetterton Circuit, and Formula 1 has always held a special place in his heart.
He was absolutely over the moon when we presented him with this incredible gift!
A heartfelt thank you to Alex and Carlos for your amazing kindness — you’ve made John’s birthday one to remember forever.
A memorable day at Anglesey Abbey
Following our trip yesterday, the residents thoroughly enjoyed their time exploring the beautiful National Trust property, Anglesey Abbey, in Bottisham.
A highlight of the day was Jean’s delightful moment of recognition—having volunteered at Anglesey Abbey for over 30 years, she spotted several familiar faces among the volunteers! Jean graciously shared her memories and knowledge of the historic house and gardens, adding a personal and meaningful touch to the visit for everyone.
Residents appreciated the peaceful atmosphere, stunning floral displays, and refreshing fresh air.
A heartfelt thank you to the team at Anglesey Abbey for their warm hospitality and for making us feel so welcome.
By Royal Appointment
What an unforgettable day it has been — our wonderful residents had the incredible honour of meeting His Majesty The King and Her Majesty Queen Camilla.
There were radiant smiles, warm handshakes, and heartfelt moments that we will treasure for a lifetime. His Majesty took the time to ask our ladies how they were and whether they had been well looked after. Greta, touched by the genuine kindness shown, responded with a heartfelt “yes” — becoming visibly emotional in the moment.
Greta, Joan, and Beryl had the privilege of not only meeting Their Majesties but also sharing a brief, meaningful conversation with The King. The warmth, compassion, and sincere interest shown by Their Majesties moved us all deeply.
Today was a beautiful reminder that it’s never too late for a once-in-a-lifetime moment — and it’s one we’ll never forget.
Celebrating National Ice Cream Day with Sweet Treats and Smiles!
To mark National Ice Cream Day, we brought joy directly to our residents with individual room visits offering refreshing ice cream and ice lollies. Amy joined us for the day, sharing her excitement about her upcoming holiday now that the school term has ended.
The residents thoroughly enjoyed their treats and the friendly, cheerful conversations that came with them — a sweet way to spend a summer afternoon!
A Splash of Colour and a Breath of Fresh Air
This morning, our residents enjoyed a delightful craft activity using acrylic paints and lemon halves to create vibrant, summery prints. The results were truly beautiful—bursting with colour and creativity! We can’t wait to see the finished artwork once it has fully dried.
In the afternoon, we ventured out into the garden for a short time. Although the rain kept our visit brief, everyone appreciated the chance to get some fresh air and enjoy the outdoors, even if only for a few minutes.
Banjo Magic
We kicked off our morning with a lively and heart-warming visit from one of our residents’ favourites – The Banjo Man!
Everyone had a truly wonderful time singing along, clapping, waving, and enjoying his cheerful energy and witty jokes. The room was filled with smiles, laughter, and joy – what a fantastic way to start the day!
Thank you so much, Sean, for bringing such happiness to our home. We’re already looking forward to welcoming you back again very soon!
A trip to the Café
Following our recent outing in Cambridge, we visited a lovely new café in the Village called Lexi’s Cafe and Bakery . We were joined by Morwenna’s son and daughter-in-law, and everyone had such a delightful time. Residents enjoyed freshly brewed coffee, tea, refreshing cold drinks, and of course, a delicious selection of cakes.
The atmosphere was calm and cool - just right for relaxing and enjoying good company. The friendly, smiling staff made us feel so welcome. Thank you all for your warmth and kindness. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!
An unplanned day.....perfectly spent!!
Today, our original plan didn’t go ahead as expected, so we quickly came up with a new idea and asked around to see who was available to join us.
As you can see in the photos, the residents really enjoyed themselves - it felt like a little holiday! They loved watching people punting on the River Cam, waving to the students, feeling the cool breeze, feeding the ducks and pigeons, and enjoying some refreshments.
A lovely, spontaneous day out!
