Activities at Hilton Park Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jenelyn Szabo

Activity Coordinator

Hello, my name is Jenelyn and I am the head of activities here at Hilton Park.

Having started my Barchester journey as a carer back in 2019, I have gained good experience of working closely with our residents. After being a carer I then moved onto the Activities team and thoroughly enjoyed working as an Activities co-ordinator, which led to my promotion to Activity Lead.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing the smiles on our residents faces.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Bottoms Up!!

Our first trip of the year! This morning, we visited "The Bell," a lovely local pub in Bottisham. We were warmly welcomed, with Adam introducing himself to our residents and staff. One of our residents enjoyed his beer, while the rest of us sipped on hot drinks and had some delightful conversations.  Richard played darts with Lily, while John enjoyed his beer and sang along to the music playing on the big-screen. We also treated ourselves to some delicious sandwiches and loaded fries. It was a truly wonderful day for our residents, trying something new. "Having a coffee in a different place really makes a difference," said Joan. A big thank you to the wonderful staff at "The Bell" for accommodating us so warmly.

Starting the year in style

Welcoming the New Year in with lots of joy, laughter and even more singing! Thank you to the brilliantly talented Kirsty Beckett for sharing your NY day with us. We all had great fun celebrating together, and singing along to some of our favourite songs. And of course, a party is never complete without some delicious food on offer, so a big thank you to our dedicated kitchen team for putting on a lovely spread as always.  2024 was a fantastic year for us in many ways, and we have decided that our favourite thing to do, is spending time together, creating cherished memories to last forever. Thank you to everyone for your continued support, we can't wait to continue making special memories here at Hilton Park. We wish each and every one of you a very happy, healthy and prosperous 2025!

Santa's Bikers visit Hilton Park

The festive cheer continued yesterday with the Cambridgeshire Volunteer Bikers , who brought mince pies for our residents to enjoy.  Bill was delighted to meet them all, initially thinking there was just one member, only to discover there were many more. Bill feels so fortunate to have photos to remember the occasion.  As you all know, Bill has embraced the role of Father Christmas this year, bringing joy and festive spirit to Hilton Park.   Thank you to everyone who visited! Bill and all of us at Hilton Park wish you a very Merry Christmas and safe travels.

A night at the Concert

Last night, two of our residents, John and Cate, were absolutely over the moon! They had such a wonderful time and wanted to share their heartfelt thanks. As Cate said, "I didn’t expect it—I thought it might be a bit boring, but it was absolutely lovely, so lively! It was a live band, and they played for two hours, with a break halfway through. When they stopped after the first set, John said, 'That’s it?'—he was enjoying it so much!"  John and Cate would like to say a huge thank you to the incredibly generous person who gifted us tickets to the Candlelight concert last night in Bury St Edmunds.  It was such a special treat for them.

Christmas for the Generations

Today, we had the pleasure of enjoying our final "Music and Movement" session of the year, hosted by Boogie Babes.  It was an extra-special event, filled with festive games and Elf Hunting! The little ones had a wonderful time, and it was nice to see the residents enjoying themselves too – especially Iris, who lovingly cradled the newborn. It truly was a magical day, bringing smiles to everyone’s faces. A big thank you to all who joined us, and we wish you a very Happy Christmas! We look forward to seeing you again in the New Year.
