Activities at Hilton Park Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jenelyn Szabo

Activity Coordinator

Hello, my name is Jenelyn and I am the head of activities here at Hilton Park.

Having started my Barchester journey as a carer back in 2019, I have gained good experience of working closely with our residents. After being a carer I then moved onto the Activities team and thoroughly enjoyed working as an Activities co-ordinator, which led to my promotion to Activity Lead.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing the smiles on our residents faces.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

A day at the Farm

We had a lovely little minibus trip to South Angle Farm Park yesterday with our animal-loving residents. From start to finish, it was absolutely fantastic!

On the way, we enjoyed the beautiful views of green fields - just as Mary said, it was so relaxing to see.
When we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming. We had a wonderful time strolling around the park, feeding the goats and sheep. Everyone had a good laugh when Richard joked that the sheep could do with a bit of conditioner!

We also had the chance to get up close with the ponies, and Richard even gave a little demonstration to other visitors on how to feed the goats with confidence - he was a natural!

It was a truly delightful experience, and we’re already looking forward to visiting again.

Going out on a high.....

Today, we had the pleasure of hosting a farewell party for one of our dearest residents, Jacqui.  We were treated to a wonderful performance by Elvis, who delighted everyone with his singing and iconic moves. Jacqui was surrounded by her fellow residents, her daughter, and dear friends from our sister home, Oaklands. Over the years, we’ve shared so many special moments — from fun-filled activities to heartfelt laughter, and even a few tears. Jacqui, you have truly become a cherished part of our Hilton Park family. We wish you every happiness and joy as you begin this exciting new chapter. And please remember, Hilton Park will always be your home — our doors will always be open to you.

Running for Charity

Last Friday, our very active Home Services Advisor, Denis, completed his charity run, generously supported by families who sponsored him. He was full of energy, sharing smiles and cheers with our residents, who watched and encouraged him from the garden as he ran.

If you would like to sponsor Denis, please don’t hesitate to speak to a member of staff. With every donation, you’ll receive a raffle ticket for the chance to win a lovely hamper!

A big thank you to Denis and to everyone who took part and supported this wonderful cause.

An afternoon with Kirsty

Yesterday’s live music brought so much joy to our home!

Our residents lit up the room, singing along and clapping to the rhythm. Even those who are usually quiet found their voices through the magic of music. Moments like these remind us of the power of connection, joy, and a good melody.

Thank you, Kirsty, for a wonderful afternoon.

A Grand Day Out

We had another wonderful trip today at the Beehive Centre in Cambridge! We began our day with a visit to Hobbycraft to browse for decorations. Dennis made us all laugh, saying, "This place is like heaven for ladies!

After that, we stopped by Asda to pick up some Easter eggs in preparation for Easter and took some time to admire the displays.

Dennis kept us entertained with his jokes along the way, making the journey even more enjoyable. While heading to our next stop, we spotted Nando’s, and the residents decided to have lunch - three of them had never been before, so we thought, why not! It turned out to be a fantastic choice, with everyone sharing positive feedback afterward.

They all returned with big smiles, making it a truly memorable and heartwarming day out!

Getting ready for Easter

Our residents put their hearts into our Easter cake entry for the Barchester competition! Joan, Morwenna, John, and Pat showcased their talents, making our cake beautifully vibrant and colourful. Morwenna said, "I’m hoping we win, but if not, it just wasn’t meant to be. The most important thing is that we had fun, enjoyed the process, and shared plenty of laughter."

Some residents simply enjoyed watching and cheering on their fellow bakers, taking in the wonderful atmosphere.

Well done, everyone!
