Activities at Hilton Park Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Hello, my name is Jenelyn and I am the head of activities here at Hilton Park.

Having started my Barchester journey as a carer back in 2019, I have gained good experience of working closely with our residents. After being a carer I then moved onto the Activities team and thoroughly enjoyed working as an Activities co-ordinator, which led to my promotion to Activity Lead.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing the smiles on our residents faces.

Happy 104th Birthday

A very happy 104th birthday to our lovely Dorothy, who celebrated her special day with a Mad Hatter Tea Party today. Residents, families, and staff all came together to have a great time, singing along and clapping. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Lou and Mike for the wonderful afternoon, to All Saints Primary School Newmarket for the lovely birthday cards made by the students, and to our chef who prepared a delicious cake for everyone to enjoy. Thank you all for joining us today

Bristol International Balloon Fiesta

To mark this celebration, we held a small event that was enjoyed by residents, families, and staff. Due to the weather, we moved the celebration indoors, featuring live music performed by a charming Elvis impersonator. Moreover, we successfully released biodegradable balloons in the car park.

Visit to Lavender Farm

A lovely morning at a Lavender Farm, enjoying the fading beauty of summer through its scents and sights. We went for walks, had freshly brewed coffee, and enjoyed delicious cakes and scones.

Visit the Identical Twins

Today, we had an incredibly special trip that warmed our hearts. One of our residents, Jane, has identical twins in another care home, just a 40-minute drive from Hilton Park. When we arrived, and they heard each other's voices, they immediately held and hugged each other. They looked immensely happy, profoundly emotional, holding each other's hands. The photos beautifully capture the strength of the connection between Jane and Karen.

Summer Fete

Today, we hosted our joint summer fete with our sister home, Oaklands Care Home - Barchester Healthcare , in the Atrium due to the unfavourable weather. We were pleasantly surprised by the support from the families and friends of the residents who joined us and enjoyed the event. A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone, especially those who generously donated for our raffle prizes, our fantastic entertainers, The Banjo Man and Trish the Ventriloquist - as well as the stall holders. Your contributions are genuinely appreciated. Thank you very much.

Cambridge Federation of Women's Institutes

Last night, we were invited to attend the Cambridge Federation of Women's Institutes monthly meeting in Bottisham. Our small group were delighted with the warm welcome and enjoyed listening to the speaker's story about his experience of the Oregon Trail. Thank you so much for inviting us, we are looking forward to the next one. Also, we are excited to confirm that the WI coffee morning will be held at Hilton Park on October 6th.
