Activities at Hilton Park Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Hello, my name is Jenelyn and I am the head of activities here at Hilton Park.

Having started my Barchester journey as a carer back in 2019, I have gained good experience of working closely with our residents. After being a carer I then moved onto the Activities team and thoroughly enjoyed working as an Activities co-ordinator, which led to my promotion to Activity Lead.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing the smiles on our residents faces.

Tiny Toes Ballet Cambridge

We were fortunate to host the 17th Children Ballet Event from tiny toes ballet Cambridge, they were accompanied by their parents and teachers, yesterday. Residents thoroughly enjoyed their ballet performance, and they have been talking about how adorable the children were, making it a delightful activity for the day. Despite their young age, they are working hard to pursue ballet dancing. Parents and residents chatted afterwards, sharing stories about their wonderful children.On behalf of the Hilton Park team, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Tiny Toes teachers for visiting us. Residents and staff eagerly anticipate their next visit.

King's 75th Birthday Celebrations

Happy 75th Birthday to King Charles III!

Today, the residents here at Hilton Park have been celebrating King Charles's birthday. We kicked off the day by crafting our own crowns with the help of students from Bottisham Village College; it was great fun creating our individual pieces. Some of our wonderful students visited individuals for a friendly chat. Tim and Betty were absolutely delighted to have the students in their room.

In the afternoon, residents enjoyed live music performed by "Somethin Else", featuring a British-themed show. And, of course, a delicious cake made by our talented chef, Anthony, was shared amongst everyone. A big thank you to all involved.

Happy 104th Birthday

A very happy 104th birthday to our lovely Dorothy, who celebrated her special day with a Mad Hatter Tea Party today. Residents, families, and staff all came together to have a great time, singing along and clapping. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Lou and Mike for the wonderful afternoon, to All Saints Primary School Newmarket for the lovely birthday cards made by the students, and to our chef who prepared a delicious cake for everyone to enjoy. Thank you all for joining us today

Bristol International Balloon Fiesta

To mark this celebration, we held a small event that was enjoyed by residents, families, and staff. Due to the weather, we moved the celebration indoors, featuring live music performed by a charming Elvis impersonator. Moreover, we successfully released biodegradable balloons in the car park.

Visit to Lavender Farm

A lovely morning at a Lavender Farm, enjoying the fading beauty of summer through its scents and sights. We went for walks, had freshly brewed coffee, and enjoyed delicious cakes and scones.

Visit the Identical Twins

Today, we had an incredibly special trip that warmed our hearts. One of our residents, Jane, has identical twins in another care home, just a 40-minute drive from Hilton Park. When we arrived, and they heard each other's voices, they immediately held and hugged each other. They looked immensely happy, profoundly emotional, holding each other's hands. The photos beautifully capture the strength of the connection between Jane and Karen.
