Activities at Highview House Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Aiden Wylie

Lead Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Aiden Wylie, and I am Head Activities Coordinator here at Highview House.  My job is to ensure a mentally and physically challenging and varied calendar of activities.  I want to involve all our residents in a warm and welcoming environment.

My career has been in education and I have lived in countries as diverse as Japan and Iraq, but in 2022 I came to Highview with the ambition of offering a range of activities, trips and entertainment which lead to lasting memories and experiences.

Life at Highview House Care Home

Love is in the air

Love was in the air at Highview as residents celebrated Valentine’s Day with each feeling the love with they were presented with individual bags of love heart chocolates.  It was a fun-filled day of activities with a love themed everyone by all!

Enjoying the snow

Whilst watching the snow fall, John a resident in the home asked if he could go outside despite the bitter cold to watch the snow fall across the homes grounds.  Soon other Residents had wrapped up warm and were enjoying the fresh air despite the cold.  Conversations soon turned to the fun they had enjoyed as children with snow ball fights and sledging on any slope they could find.  Once back inside everyone enjoyed a warming drink as they said they had thoroughly enjoyed the experience

Keeping Residents connected

Residents are overjoyed at Highview care home in Inverness, as Barchester Healthcare has implemented a visiting suite for residents to continue to spend time with their loved ones for the autumn and winter seasons in addition to the outdoor visiting that has been on offer for those able for many months.

Balancing resident wellbeing and safety is at the forefront of Barchester Healthcare’s thinking and they understand how important it is for residents and their family and friends to be able to spend time together in the safest way possible.

Nurse celebrates 15-years long service

Lena started her role as a nurse 15 years ago here at Highview. Lena has always been a dedicated member of the team. Lena has seen a lot of changes over the years, and easily adapted to them all. Lena is a very friendly person who is always there to help and advice.

Congratulations on this achievement and thank you for all your hard work and dedication.

World Kindness Day

We wrapped our home in kindness with scarfs that were donated from kind people, and then we asked the local primary school if they would like to get involved by creating some artwork to display on the scarfs.

The children were delighted to help and produced some beautiful kindness pictures for us to display around the building.

The children showed great kindness and are keen to join in more of our future activities.

Keeping active

Keeping active is important for our Residents and they often join in with games and armchair activities.  There was a lot of laughs when the homes oldest resident, Annie joined George in a ball game.  Activities such as this is an important part of the homes life enrichment programme, keeping residents active, connected and socially engaged.
