Activities at Harper Fields Care Home

There is always something to do here at Harper Fields and always someone to assist the residents in any activity they wish to take part in. We have entertainers come into the home to sing and play instruments on a weekly basis, as well as visits from PAT dogs, hairdressers, massage therapists and nail technicians to pamper those who live here. Residents' spiritual needs are taken into account at Harper Fields; we have regular services from the Catholic and Methodist church, in addition to the Church of England, and for our non-religious residents, we have a weekly calming and peaceful ‘mindfulness and meditation group,’ which is very popular, especially for those living with dementia. Residents often like to attend cinema evenings to watch their favourite films on the big screen (complete with sweets and popcorn), or develop new skills at our computer classes, where they can learn how to Skype their families in other countries. Our activities are tailored to suit the individual interests and capabilities of residents and our specialised equipment enables those we support to enjoy everything we have to offer.

Life at Harper Fields Care Home

Strictly Stars send video to Harper fields residents.

Strictly Stars Lauren & Krishnan delighted Harper fields residents by sending us a personal video while we were all watching the show last Saturday night. Lauren is an ex-employee of Harper fields, she was ‘The hostess with the moistest on our Warwick Nursing community, before she was whisked away by the BBC’S Strictly come dancing show. Lauren’s family live in Balsall common so she often pops in to say Hello! Lauren & Krishnan’s journey came to an end in week 8 and although were very sad to see Lauren leave the show, we can’t wait to go and see her on The Strictly Tour in Birmingham next year. Well done Lauren were very proud of you.

Oktoberfest

Harper fields care home had a blast at today’s Oktoberfest celebration! We all enjoyed Beer, Bratwurst, Festive décor and Dressing up. We had live music and lots of fun, dancing and games. We even tried playing the Bass recorder. Lots of laughter was had by all.

Shirley Bassey Tribute show

We often get asked for Tribute shows from our residents and we try very hard to get what they want! So today we made Kempton residential resident’s wish come true. Alan really fancied a ‘Shirley Bassey’ show. Well, today we made that wish come true! Shirley Bassey (Sandy Lawrence) sang a huge medley of Shirley’s hits. Alans words after Sandy’s performance. “ She’s the best, now what can I wish for”!!!!

Classic car show

Amazing day at Harper fields as the Coventry Classic Car Club rolled in! The event witnessed by Harper fields residents, friends and families was incredible. The memories these vintage beauties brought to our residents was priceless. George and his family have talked about the event ever since.

This little quote was sent from a family member.  “ Thank you for organising such a lovely event. Dad (George Badger) had a fabulous time chatting to all the owners. Well done Harper Fields and your lovely staff!”

Leo the Tortoise visits Harper fields

The day Leo the Tortoise came to visit., residents couldn’t get enough of him.  The colours and markings on the little creature are incredible. They each wanted to hold him and feed him. Warwick nursing care assistant Lesley took Leo to each residents room, so everyone could have a hold. Some of our residents had never been up close to such a small tortoise. As you can see residents could hold Leo in the palm of their hand. Now carer Lesley has to bring him in everyday as residents look forward to seeing him. Leo’s become Harper fields resident pet and resides on Warwick community in Dorrie’s room.

‘Bar 103’ opening

The day finally arrived for our brand new bar open evening. Angela who kindly donated a large sum of money towards the bar cut the ribbon and declared our ‘in-house pub’ open. We celebrated with a Spanish themed evening. Our superb chef’s mixed sangria to drink, paella to eat and  lots of nibbles throughout the evening. We dressed up in all our finery and danced the evening away to the fabulous sound of ‘ANDANTE’

Nosotras bailamos toda la noche means we dance all night said 100 year old Agnes. A  totally awesome evening was had by residents, families and staff.
