Activities at Harper Fields Care Home

There is always something to do here at Harper Fields and always someone to assist the residents in any activity they wish to take part in. We have entertainers come into the home to sing and play instruments on a weekly basis, as well as visits from PAT dogs, hairdressers, massage therapists and nail technicians to pamper those who live here. Residents' spiritual needs are taken into account at Harper Fields; we have regular services from the Catholic and Methodist church, in addition to the Church of England, and for our non-religious residents, we have a weekly calming and peaceful ‘mindfulness and meditation group,’ which is very popular, especially for those living with dementia. Residents often like to attend cinema evenings to watch their favourite films on the big screen (complete with sweets and popcorn), or develop new skills at our computer classes, where they can learn how to Skype their families in other countries. Our activities are tailored to suit the individual interests and capabilities of residents and our specialised equipment enables those we support to enjoy everything we have to offer.

Life at Harper Fields Care Home

Coronation talk

Across our services Residents had a wonderful time participating in an interactive virtual talk with Pippa Catterall, Professor of History and Policy at the University of Westminster, where we delved into the rich history of coronations.

During the talk, we explored fascinating topics such as the coronation chair, the crown, and other significant aspects related to King Charles' upcoming coronation. Our residents were thrilled to have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the memoirs of past coronations from 1937 and 1953, as well as learning about the coronation oath and what to expect from the ceremony, including the music, guests, and pageantry.

Memory Land Gardening Club

A garden can help those living with Dementia enjoy socialising and connect with others by creating a shared experience, to take part in physical activity and stimulate the senses and memories.

Did you spot ‘Benjamin’?

Harper fields Benjamin bunny was hopping all over the village of Balsall common delivering Easter goodies for the children and to Capellas nursery. Children waved, car horns tooted and truck drivers cheered every time they spotted ‘Benjamin’.

Kings of Swing

Harper fields residents were so lucky to be one of the first to see the launch of mini concerts Nick’s “Kings of Swing” amazing new show.  The concerts are performed by young artists who are currently in training for careers in Musical Theatre. Nick’s show was awesome and we wish him good luck in the future. Maybe we’ll see him in London’s ‘West end’

Race Day

Cheltenham came to Harper fields today. We really enjoyed a day at the races on the big screen. We were able to place bets with our ‘own’ bookie Emma,  Paul was the commentator who whizzed our race mad punters into  frenzy with his very witty comments. There was cheers of delight from the winners, groans from the losers, all in good fun. Overall winner was Vera from our residential community. Who celebrated with a very large snowball with a cherry on top.

International Women's Day

All the ladies at Harper fields had a fun day celebrating this momentous day. We had Sienna & Leah from the Positive Impact Foundation bring in ‘Quotes & Notes’ from all the females they spend time with for our residents to read & write back.

We wrote inspirational women’s quotes on white boards for the younger generation to see. We enjoyed music from female artists then ended the day with a glass of fizz & a bunch of daffodils for each of our lady residents.
