Activities at Harper Fields Care Home
There is always something to do here at Harper Fields and always someone to assist the residents in any activity they wish to take part in. We have entertainers come into the home to sing and play instruments on a weekly basis, as well as visits from PAT dogs, hairdressers, massage therapists and nail technicians to pamper those who live here. Residents' spiritual needs are taken into account at Harper Fields; we have regular services from the Catholic and Methodist church, in addition to the Church of England, and for our non-religious residents, we have a weekly calming and peaceful ‘mindfulness and meditation group,’ which is very popular, especially for those living with dementia. Residents often like to attend cinema evenings to watch their favourite films on the big screen (complete with sweets and popcorn), or develop new skills at our computer classes, where they can learn how to Skype their families in other countries. Our activities are tailored to suit the individual interests and capabilities of residents and our specialised equipment enables those we support to enjoy everything we have to offer.

Life at Harper Fields Care Home
Trip to Lichfield Cathedral
What a busy start to the full week of activities planned. First we were treated to a trip to Lichfield cathedral with our volunteer driver to take a look at the beautifully decorated Christmas trees.

Today Harper fields were able to take even more residents on the trip as we did two journeys.
Sienna from The Positive Impact Foundation helped ensure our residents had a wonderful afternoon, joining in all the Christmas Carols.
A visit from local school children and Santa!
Today we were in for lots of Christmas treats. First we had a visit from local school children Balsall Common Primary School who treated us to some Christmas carols and then Santa arrived to wish all of our wonderful residents and staff a Happy Christmas.
Century celebrations at Harper Fields
Celebrations have been in full swing at Harper fields, as one of its residents reaches her centenary in style. Joyce Astill was joined by staff, relatives, friends and other residents as she received a telegram from the King in recognition of her landmark birthday. A champagne reception was held at the home and guests enjoyed a special birthday cake made by the home’s chef Ashley.
Joyce was a housewife before coming to Harper fields, where she is enjoying a new chapter of her life. The birthday girl, said: “A few cheeky glasses of champagne, a delicious buffet and your family, what more could you want when you’re this old”. We asked Joyce what her secret was to a long life. Her reply “just luck, accept life for what it is”
Honouring Armistice Day
We Honoured Armistice Day with a Two minute silence, followed by an incredible 1940’s show. Residents have been knitting poppies for our display in Harper fields Knit & natter group for weeks, they then helped to create our wonderful display.
Dancing, flag waving, singing and a toast with a sherry or two made it a memorable day. Staff dressed up, adding a fun touch to the solemn occasion. A truly wonderful day was had by all residents, families and friends.
Joyful 100th Birthday at Harper fields
Memory lane resident Joyce Gray was surrounded by her family & friends for her momentous big birthday. Joyce received a special card from King Charles & Queen Camilla, which brought happy tears to her eyes. Joyce’s Great grand-daughters serenaded her with the violin & cello. Our outstanding hospitality team baked a superb cake, which Joyce’s great grand-daughters helped blow the candles out. All day long Joyce kept saying “ I can’t believe I’m a 100, I was born in 1923”. Happy Birthday Joyce from everyone at Harper Fields.
